I like movies a lot. I worry about right-wing extremism. I play and sometimes write tabletop RPGs. I do SRE things but don’t speak for my employer here. I grew up in New England and live with my wife in Seattle. He/his.

I’m gonna call my local legislators about this. I wouldn’t expect the same results Germany has seen, because balcony solar units cost a lot more in the US and Washington already has very cheap electricity, but let’s move the ball forward as much as possible. www.brethorsting.com/blog/2026/01...

Hey, @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social (or more likely her staff) — is this something you could recommend to City Attorney Evans? It seems like a powerful way to make our city safer.
Nine DAs are coalescing to work on prosecuting federal agents for 'overreach':

—J. Creuzot in Dallas
—M. Moriarty in Minneapolis
—L. Conover in Tucson
—S. Descano in Fairfax (VA)

Screw Terry Black’s and check out Kaleb’s tasty looking food.
I spoke to Waco's Kaleb Blain, a transgender pitmaster working to create space for trans people in Texas BBQ. After being doxxed, attacked online and let go from Terry Black's, he's now forging his own path:

"I have to do this for the rest of my life."

Okay, deleting previous post — wasn’t $10. It was fair market value. But I’m still thrilled that Scarecrow owns its own building.

The Patriots/Seahawks discussion has started at work. I moved to Seattle a year or two after the Malcolm Butler interception and it was kind of a sore spot with the serious fans; I sincerely hope the Seahawks win this time because I am not capable of not being a jerk Boston sports fan.

Hello! Are you in the UK/Canada/Aus/NZ? Did you discover RPGs through any of the paperback-book games released in the mid-1980s (Fighting Fantasy RPG, Advanced FF, Maelstrom, Dragon Warriors, Tunnels & Trolls)? Can I ask you a couple of questions for an article? Please get in touch.

It's 21o out! (My local bagel shop decided not to open today because of the freezing rain. Alas, alack).

So, favor to ask: tell me about some really good horror rpgs that I'm not likely to have heard of or that everyone gets wrong.

Thanks!

And with that I’m finalizing my best of 2025 list (it’s in my top ten). Rankings are bullshit and I wish I’d made time for at least Train Dreams this month, not to mention the 12 (!) other movies I just added to my 2020s watchlist, but every single one of these 40 made me happy. boxd.it/FngMG

The guy in the Seattle Times comment section who spends so much time talking about how progressives are horrible people who are killing the city is furious tonight. The guy who says he didn’t vote for Trump while excusing everything Trump does is pissing the first guy off even more. Tide’s turning.

Smith: Yes.
