Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.
A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.
When will party leadership learn this lesson?

Here's the number for @kaine.senate.gov, if you'd like to let him know exactly how you feel about his vote yesterday: 202.224.4024.

Please don’t think this beltway game of having retiring Dem senators vote yes while everyone else votes no is going to shield leadership from the end result. We see what is happening and can’t be fooled by those games.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

I see Trump is killing 50,000 Americans a year now, and we'll see how many the resulting poverty will put paid to.

Every single Democratic senator that votes to cave on this should be immediately ejected from the party, and the national party should immediately start running primary candidates in their districts.
There is no bipartisanship possible with traitors and fascists. You either fight, or die.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)
They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

These 8 useless Democratic Senators are all wealthy and have feathered themselves a lovely retirement nest.
They don't need to be in these positions anymore.
They can amble away into the privileged nothingness that defines their spinelessness and lack of courage.
Demand more and better, folks.

We need to primary the ones who went along with this shameful surrender. We also need a change in leadership first.
If other traitors crop up, we’ll have to deal with them too. The present party in the Senate is not fighting for justice. The leadership is weak and Vichy-like.

Supreme Court ruled that a duly elected member cannot be denied their seat, meaning a judge could step in to administer the oath or order the House to allow it. In other words, once the government reopens, Johnson will no longer be able to act as the gatekeeper.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

@kaine.senate.gov How could you? Do you actually believe Republicans will keep their "pinky promise" to extend ACA subsidies? You have betrayed your constituents again. And we won't forget.

Or maybe Senate Democrats are aware of how pissed off voters will be?
This alleged deal guarantees a BILLION dollars in spending for security and police at the Capitol, and then a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that will surely lose.
Not sure a billion will even be enough but OK.
