Trump is president again because he promised to hurt non-white people. The reason America doesn't have better support systems, better healthcare, better *everything* is because of racism. This isn't opinion, it's fact, yet legacy media, republicans, and even many dems refuse to admit this.

1. Campaign on big issues that are directly relevant to your voters

2. Don't get distracted from point one

3. Present as a decent human with manageable baggage

4. Don't be old as fuck.

Go forth and do likewise

Ask any of your favorite Black women writers from a decade ago why their bylines stopped appearing, and you’ll likely hear the same response: There is no place for us in media. In TV. In publishing or academia. For the majority of us, there’s no place but gone.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

This sucks. Teen Vogue has been a real bright spot in political media. I hope the excellent journalists there find a home quickly.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I know people have argued with me about the specifics for months now but the truth is a lot of people are way overthinking this and if even a small minority of the Congress actually really wanted Trump out of office, he would be out of there in very short order.
My plan for today was to do my chores and then make art. But a fucking mouse just walked into my living room like it’s paying the mortgage and now I have to do rodent control. 🤬

When multiple students say stuff like “You aren’t going to tell us how many paragraphs our paper has to have or how many pieces of evidence we have to have per paragraph? But that’s how we were trained!” it really shows how algorithms replaced writing well before chatbots.

It’s about pedagogy. 🤷‍♂️

I've seen so many people online using the government shutdown as an opportunity to demonize people who receive SNAP benefits, WIC and any kind of government assistance.

Here's the thing:

I agree with those people.

We need to end the WHITE welfare state

BECAUSE welfare works.

A thread:

I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

In short, the ANES data shows:
📉 Social media use is shrinking
💥 Twitter/X posting has moved ~50 points to the right
🧩 Platforms are splintering
🔊 Fewer people are talking — but those still talking are more politically extreme

I have yet to see a use case for AI in the classroom that wouldn't also be addressed by smaller class sizes & more paid prep time for teachers.

Okay I’m reading it now and, no surprise, it suuuucks in exactly the ways you would expect.
Should I have a couple drinks and rip apart the new centrist dem manifesto tonight?

(4) Trump and the Republicans don't have an advantage over Democrats because they *better understand heartland Americans.*

They have an advantage over Democrats because they created their own universe of propaganda outlets, and then went out and bought all the mainstream outlets.

Duh.

Take a lesson from the Black Panthers who understood how to feed people
If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net
Folks who do airport travel around the holidays—worth it or avoid at all costs?

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.

Housing, food, healthcare—it's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.

Someone on threads said they hope teachers are buying snacks for their students due to food stamps being cut off.

Excuse me? You hope what!?!?!

We’re supposed to fix everything while also being accused of not doing anything.
