I checked hours earlier this week, looking for a place to donate apples on Monday. Albuquerque's big food pantries are down to 3-day schedules, open 2-3 hours at a time. I am not sure if that is due to a shortage of supplies or volunteers. I'll ask.

As more than 40 million people nationwide reckon with the looming suspension of federal food benefits amid the government shutdown, New Mexico will continue to provide food aid to qualifying residents through the first 10 days of November, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Wednesday.

That's how ABQ is. A few years ago every single school was rando canceled mid week because the SIS (student info system) was down. A handful of restaurants all over the city were quick to announce if you were a student they had a free meal for you.
