I've been so confused about the DHL emails saying a package was on its way - I could not for the life of me remember that I had ordered anything. But then it was this lovely thing! Edited by Benjamin Gatling w/ some great scholars & activists, on #migration #narrative

I knew they’d come for the archivists and librarians but honestly I assumed it would be for a reason better than “Our Special Boy wants to give his friend a sword! Give him a sword!”

“They asked for a sword, and we said, ‘Well, we do have swords, but we can’t give them away because they’re museum artifacts,’” said Todd Arrington, forced to resign as head of Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library.”

As a doctoral student, it took me several years to realise that the International Society for Folk Narrative Research ISFNR is not about narratives or prose traditions only but accommodates work on not-so-narrative folk genres and folk song research too.

The past couple of weeks, I have been reading this novel by Myriam Moscona, where she reflects on the complex mosaic of her family, Ladino Jews who emigrated from Bulgaria to Mexico after World War II. It's a great reminder how complex identities can be, & that borders count for very little.
