As a doctoral student, it took me several years to realise that the International Society for Folk Narrative Research ISFNR is not about narratives or prose traditions only but accommodates work on not-so-narrative folk genres and folk song research too.

The past couple of weeks, I have been reading this novel by Myriam Moscona, where she reflects on the complex mosaic of her family, Ladino Jews who emigrated from Bulgaria to Mexico after World War II. It's a great reminder how complex identities can be, & that borders count for very little.
