My own anecdotal observations of student Gen AI *use* are mixed, even if most seem to agree with this. Something I wish would come up more in this convo is that the quality of writing produced is also bad. Like, beyond content inaccuracies…just totally devoid of style and substance.

“Because conflict is often justified through historical narratives, and because cultural heritage is tied to identity and homeland, stories around cultural heritage may be purposed to either legitimate or exploit geopolitical aims.” —Mischa Geracoulis, human rights journalist
Framing Heritage Destruction as a Human Rights Violation
The way in which assaults on cultural and religious sites are presented to the public is critical to linking these attacks to atrocity crimes, a new book argues.

my view is that everyone should be able to earn a living wage doing whatever it is they like. if you love working in a bookshop, you should be able to live a comfortable life doing so. if you loving being a barista, the same. and if you want to do more traditional blue collar work, that’s cool too!
the other thing is that no one who fetishizes manual labor actually cares to improve life for people who are in those circumstances! no support for unionization or a generous welfare state! no interest in policies that make life easier for people who work their hands or afford them more autonomy!

It should be against the law to post from your honeymoon. Like when you’re about to walk down the aisle there should be some guy who confiscates your phone for a minimum of 2 weeks.

i am 100% of the belief that simply forcing take-writers to answer the question "who specifically said this and why are they significant" would result in substantially fewer bad takes circulating in the world
if i ever teach a class on argumentative writing i am going to use these paragraphs as an example of how to NOT write persuasively for an audience.
