Followed closely by the bond formed in the soul-deep anguish of leaving your place of work only to see your car as an indistinct white lump in the unprotected parking lot after a brisk 8-18 inches of lake effect snow during business hours.
I have nothing against you or your regional culture but there is an unbreakable spiritual bond between anyone who has ever had to scrape ice off a windshield while hungover
the annual snowfall required for me to take your city seriously is like 11” minimum. nobody is using 300 days of sun to serve the lord

Heated Rivalry watching PSA: there are a couple scenes where people are having extended conversations in Russian without captions but it turns out that if you have the closed captions turned on overall, there will not be captions on those Russian scenes. So you have to turn off the captions

So far her favorite things are the couch, the wood stove, dinnertime, and me working from home. #fosterdogposting

Mark Kelly just replied, with a snapshot of his chest metal for emphasis, and the text of his post is PERFECTION.

Ham goes first, then mac and cheese, then rolls. All others I will fight to keep, possibly with weapons.
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

My local shelter put out a call that they're overfull and in desperate need of fosters. I don't think I'm ready for a new dog just yet, but I have this house and this big yard just sitting here, so I signed up, and this morning I'm heading out to meet some potential new foster pups. Wish me luck!

Heated Rivalry, the gay hockey romance show (On Crave in Canada, and on HBO Max in the US and I believe Australia) premieres on November 28! I don't like linking to Twitter, but I can't find a Crave account on Bluesky...

The 50th anniversary sent me on a bit of an Edmund Fitzgerald binge. There are so many good covers, be it the raw chaos of the Dandy Warhols, evoking actual storms I've felt on the water: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q10...
Or the incredible purity of the Punch Brothers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhTR...

I lived so many places growing up I can't even definitively identify a hometown, much less a slop. But I guess this could qualify, this is the upstate NY specialty Garbage Plate:

This enormous and very naughty young man was running in traffic on the highway on my commute this morning, so I stopped and pulled him out of the road. His panicked owner appeared in her car 15 mins later. The face of a dog who will 100% jump the fence to chase deer again:

If you could hear what some of the middle-aged and up ladies (the most reliable voters btw) are saying with their whole chests about the stuff that's happening right now, you'd know this is actually a pretty solid strategy.
At this rate the 2026 Dem meta will be running dead-eyed CIA officers whose campaign ads are just them graphically describing what war crimes they will do to Republicans

One of my most boomer opinions is that one of the best things you can do for kids is help them learn how to organize their time and operate in professional adult spaces by making them have a part time job in high school AND college.
Lots of people were very angry at me for saying it was normal for high school students to have part-time jobs when I was a kid!
There's been a huge movement towards infantilizing teenagers instead of moving them towards independence. I see a ton of people online saying how horrible it is for teens to work part time when they're in school. Having a part-time job was super common when I was a kid.

he'd be out the door before you finished the word "mass"
Let’s be real: approximately ten seconds after you told Tolkien that Catholics couldn’t go to Mass because they were afraid of being disappeared by agents of the government, he’d be out there protesting.
