Maude and I encountered a magical leaf during our morning walk, on this grey and chilly Sunday. Having had a good sniff, and determining that it was not edible, she quickly lost interest. But I couldn't resist filming it dancing around in the air, seemingly with a mind of its own - full of delight.

They're fairly rare. Known as Black Russian Terriers in the US, but Russian Black Terriers in the UK where we live. Created by the Russian Army after WW2 to be military dogs, as they lost all theirs in the war. A mix of Airedale, Rottweiler, Giant Schnauzer and Newfoundland. Great dogs. ❤️

They do look a bit like black Briards, and also Bouviers, especially when they're cute, fluffy, black puppies. Quite different temperaments though, and they don't have a herding instinct.

We're still enjoying the 'after show euphoria' and Maude and I are just back from the park (yes, she jumped over the big pencil) on a cold autumnal day. I saw my breath when I let the girls out first thing this morning, and the under-floor heating was on in the bathroom. Fall Has Arrived!

Celebrating 7 years with our sweet girl Maude, who stole our hearts from the moment we saw this puppy picture of her. She is Our Lady of the Significant Glance and has very revealing (and often hilarious) facial expressions. She is goofy, and funny and so loving, and we absolutely adore her.

I always love those lists of "35 under 35," but as I get older, I find that I would love to know about innovations/art from people over 65. "65 over 65" please. Elders have incredible ideas that are the result of having seen the full lifecycle of previous ideas and learned from it.
