YEAH THAT PART. We shouldn't have to pay all this shit just to leave but we do and being a citizen sometimes feels like being the golden child under Darvo. We get some "perks" but we're not doing that well either. 😭

I wish more non-Americans understood this. The system is working as intended: to keep all but the most wealthy from freely traveling or moving away without strings.

We still pay US taxes unless we give up US citizenship. Passports are not always within reach.

Never forget that Norman Rockwell, debatably the most famous American artist to ever put brush to canvas, was not afraid to show the ugliness along with the good. Having his work/reputation sanitized and trimmed into marketable nostalgia is about American as it gets.

Fucking this. Always starts with porn and any kind of nudity and it was never about the kids. But they don't care about the hypocrisy, OR the negative impacts on kids not knowing how to spot these related types of abuse.
