Except the sit-in at Columbia was Trump's reasoning for pulling funding and going after curriculum in every school.

It was never antisemitism and folks that supported the genocide cheered the loss of free speech in Israel's name.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

Calling for a ceasefire during Vietnam was a death sentence for many.

We haven't been "here" before but we've been close.

Standing and saying "not in my name" is always the first step and it's usually the young folks that have the courage to do it first.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

When the folks doing community action create a place. The momentum they build is contagious. So the moderates all the way to the far right come to take it over or break it.

Link is the example. Even building a sep space, BSKY suggestion for failed moderation, wasn't enough & BSKY silenced him.

We seem to have hit an inflection point of folks that went to the moderate Twitter replacement 🐋 & folks who migrated off Twitter well past obvious Nazism.

The problem is the moderators here. They immediately coddled them instead of making them acclimate to the accounts that made BSKY successful.

We need to be able to have critical and thoughtful analysis of what the people we are being asked to hire to speak for us are doing and how they are failing to meet the moment.

There are a lot of accounts that are invested in stopping that discourse. Moreso each day and that is suspicious.

She was not. She was the "nothing will fundamentally change" candidate. It started with hope and people responded with historic, record breaking support.

To keep that momentum, they needed to hold that hope. Walz helped but he wasn't well known enough to carry the campaign.
