Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.

Haha. It's like a contest for which outlet can be the laziest and the ass kissiest at the same time.

Since we can produce cooking oil ourselves, why doesn't the government help farmers by buying their crops, producing the oil and then distributing it to the poorest Americans who are food insecure, like we did back in the 70's with milk and cheese?

Oh, because GOP wants poor people to starve.

Small indies have always had less access than larger corporate press. And yet somehow, we've found ways to still, you know, report meaningful stories.

In fact, if anything, the complacency/laziness of access journalism and giving an audience to these lying hollow suit WH spox is just bad content.

So, they're tossing ACA subsidies onto our collective funeral pyre (bc Americans WILL die once the GOP messes with all our access to health care as it is) and just spending the money they could use for subsidies on....saving the government of a country that just did a deal with China for soybeans.

And that his office doesn't answer the phone to take constituent concerns any more won't surprise anyone who has been observing him over time. He got what he set out to achieve, his Senate seat. He doesn't need the public right now.

Granted, not everything succeeds. Fetterman isn't solely to blame for Braddock's troubles or the failure of this project. It's complicated, as they say.

But he built his "brand" as a white savior through projects like this. So, it's not a big surprise that he seems to identify with Trump now.

It was a good ambitious concept; I don't think anyone would argue it wasn't: workforce development combined with a community restaurant. This model does already exist out there.

But in this case, it died on the vine, but not before Fetterman had a high end restaurant, paid for, on his property.

I know someone who really wanted to work on creating that program, who interviewed w owner/mgmt and who had a great background in education and had done a lot of research on similar programs in other places...it never moved forward bc they wanted her to wait tables in addition to running it. 🤣
hmullphoto.bsky.social
Just as a post-script, the training and intern program, which was one of the major prongs of the project as it was pitched to investors, never materialized, to my knowledge.
hmullphoto.bsky.social
Yeah, this was when Fetterman and Kevin Sousa were fundraising to open Sousa's restaurant in that space.

PG reported on it, but by the time Fetterman ran for Senate, it didn't come up much. It always struck me as a conflict.

Debts dogged previous ventures, but he’s clearing them while building a Braddock venue with foundation, nonprofit and crowdsourced support.

For real. He and his buddy used a Kickstarter to rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars to make capital improvements to a building owned by then-mayor Fetterman, increasing the value of his primary property and, essentially, installing a commercial kitchen into the building he lives in.

So, Fetterman's staff aren't answering the phones during the shutdown.

Maybe call the brewpub in his basement and have them run a message to the Quisling upstairs.

New in PN: Stephen Miller's radically bogus idea of "plenary authority"

"Miller’s contention about ICE officers 'having to street battle against antifa every night' is objectively absurd. Courts cannot possibly be required to accept anything Trump says, no matter how disconnected from reality."

bari weiss is proof you can do whatever you want in america if you’re an unapologetic bigot, racist and liar. as @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social keeps telling us, democracies need to establish costs for being a lying liar.

one of my takeaways from this great piece is that weiss just doesn’t…sound like an intelligent person? or at least, not someone who has thought even a little bit about how and why they think the things that they do. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieT...

Yeah, really sinister to help
Americans have access to healthcare outside their employers. 🤣

They clearly get off on just acting like dicks to people. Seriously stunted individuals.

As one of his unfortunate constituents, I think about this ALL the time. He's supporting Trump as some weird gesture to try and make his dad proud of him or some shit. (JFC, man, just get a therapist like a normal adult.) He has always had bad judgement, but now we're all being held hostage to it.

ICE/DHS is disappearing whole people, not just their hair. So, maybe I DNGAF about your very bad cover photo, gramps.
