Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.

We visited Sheffield Park in Sussex yesterday for the autumn colour. There were a lot of people doing the same! It is glorious and worth visiting. Nyssa Sheffield Park came from here. 🌱🇬🇧

OneCoin claimed to be a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.

It wasn’t. There was no blockchain - just a fake database and made-up prices.

It was a massive Ponzi fraud - and stole $4 billion from millions of victims in 125 countries.

NEW: Britain’s top libel firm, Carter-Ruck, acted for OneCoin - a $4bn crypto-fraud.

The firm threatened whistleblowers, journalists, regulators, and even the police.

Carter-Ruck's work helped the fraud continue as long as it did.

Was that a crime?

Surely when the FCA, the City of London Police and plenty more were saying “it’s a scam”, they can’t simply shrug and say “we didn’t know it was illegal”? They are aiding and abetting large scale fraud and it appears knowingly doing so.
