Trump has now pardoned a murderous drug lord who smuggled 400 tons of cocaine into the country, AND the guy who ran the Dark Web's biggest drug marketplace.

“[I]nstead,” Kelly said, “(Hegseth) runs around on a stage like he’s a 12-year-old playing army. And it is ridiculous, it is embarrassing... This is the secretary of defense. This is not a serious person. He should have been fired after Signalgate. And then every single day after that.”

Exactly!

This is happening across the entire country; prosecutions are down because federal agents are rounding up migrants instead.
NEW: President Trump has repeatedly threatened to bring federal agents, or even soldiers, to San Francisco to battle crime. His administration has actually done the opposite, quietly taking federal law enforcement away from the city to do immigration work instead.

…that willingness to cross Trump suggests members are recalculating Trump’s power relative to their own. Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo noted: “This is genuinely big news…. Republicans are challenging Trump now because he seems weak. No one wants to back a weak horse.”

“The admin justifies its strikes on the Venezuelan boats by claiming to fight “narcoterrorism,” but today Trump announced a full pardon for former president of Honduras Juan Orlando Hernández, who was found guilty last year by an American jury of conspiring to import 400 tons of cocaine into the US”

The reality, of course, is that Miller and a significant portion of Trump’s base are the ones who failed to assimilate to America’s post-WWII culture of multi-racial democracy & religious pluralism…and they are now using their power to destroy that once dominant (and still popular) American culture.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

I swore an oath to the Constitution in 1986. I've upheld it through 25 years of service and every day since I retired.

If Trump's trying to intimidate me, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to our country to be silenced by bullies who care more about power than the Constitution.

As law professor John Pfaff noted: “There’s clearly no adult in the room to say ‘wait, maybe don’t go after the charismatic war hero turned literal astronaut who ran [for office] after his wife was a victim of political violence.’”

Right?! Of all the people to choose to go after.

NEW data I've received: Just 5% of people detained by ICE since October 1 have had violent criminal convictions, 3/4 had no criminal convictions at all. Most "criminals" had immigration, traffic, and vice offenses. Not the "worst of the worst"...

This is heartbreakingly cruel and hypocritical. The same admin that has redefined refugee status to cover white South Africans is now going to drown thousands of refugees already approved for their status in red tape, potentially even seeking to strip some of their status and deport them.
Trump Admin planning a rule to re-decide whether *every* refugee who entered under Biden meets their criteria for a refugee. That’s 230,000 people! And no appeals!

Congress wrote into the law that someone who overstays a visa while applying for asylum is not considered to be accruing “unlawful presence,” but it didn’t explicitly say those people couldn’t be arrested and detained — because it was presumed that they wouldn’t be. Well, Trump is doing it.
We came to LA as refugees from the USSR in 1991. Life wasn’t easy, but we persevered and, I dare say, came to contribute something of worth to this nation.

Had I experienced the following when I was a boy, I don’t know what would have become of me.

“Luke Harding of The Guardian noted that the plan appears to have been translated from Russian, as many of the phrases in the text read naturally in that language but are awkward and clunky in English.”

Kinda gives the whole game away right there I think.

This is conspiracy theory stuff. China doesn’t need to spy on baby monitors to know what Americans are doing. They can just open Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or one of the many apps that Americans use to share the kind of information that two generations ago couldn’t be waterboarded out of them.
HINSON: As a mom, I think about watching a baby monitor. That's a very intimate moment with your baby and to think the Chinese could be spying on your morning routine

BARTIROMO: Why are they spying on moms?

HINSON: They just want to know what Americans are up to to undermine our way of life

“Border Patrol’s parent agency got authorization to run a domestic license plate reader program in 2017, according to a Department of Homeland Security policy document.”

Seriously, we need to get rid of the DHS.
I just wrapped up two projects with students working on automated license plate reader tech in the context of abortion and this is still more dystopian and horrific than anything we uncovered.

The US is now a surveillance state with border patrol as the Gestapo.
