I'm visiting my birth family who I met 6 years ago. I also had lunch today with a friend I haven't seen in decades. He knew my adopted parents and college boyfriend.

I'm in some weird time loop. It's wonderful and more than I can process right now.

I feel this way every conference, every family holiday, and right now. (I'm visiting a big group of family.)

I get full from all the activity and run out of listening and processing juice. I tell people I need to go introvert. It works.

If I pace myself and get quiet time, I do great.

I tried to talk the PTA into doing a no show ball where people buy tickets and sponsorships, and there is an online silent auction, but no actual event.

They just couldn't do it. The party people needed their party. Sigh.

I wrote a check at the beginning of each semester with a note saying I was buying my way out of guilt and fundraising and if there were ever any kids who didn't have money for a field trip or the book fair, I would cover it.

It worked!

I couldn't do any of the mom groups. I just did not have more people talking and wanting me to go places and do stuff. I was already well beyond capacity.

It turned out I was desperate for some alone time.

Two of my (new?) brothers went to Texas and are diehard fans. One was at the game. I was texting "go cows!" to them.
