Last night in the campground where I am camp host, I had to put out two unattended campfires 🔥. Winds were gusting to 30 mph. The rangers are getting furloughed on October 18th. Don’t be stupid. Protect our National Parks by staying out of them until the shutdown is over. Or volunteer to help.

This "ironic" racism dates to 18 years ago. AT LEAST. I saw it in the 2008 Presidential cycle while working for the Huntsman campaign...and Jon Huntsman, when it was brought to his attention, kicked a *bunch* of people out of the campaign organization.

Happy 87th birthday to John Dean, who is living history. 52 years ago, he stood up to an out of control POTUS whose behavior seems quaint to what we are dealing with now. He admitted his own mistakes and did the right thing. Ever since he has spoken out loudly about authoritarianism & so much more.

Last year, we wrote about survivor Taylor Cadle. When she was 12, she told police she’d been raped. They said she was lying and charged her with false reporting. She then took the extraordinary measure of recording the next act of abuse.

Now, Taylor has legal counsel and filed a lawsuit.

umm, usually not. Taking NYC as an example, after five years you're vested. You can't collect until you're (?45?) and the actual payments, which are X percent times years of service, are lower, but you get full medical and other benefits. Plus LEOSA privs (national "carry") when you walk out.
