The most depressing drug culture thing I’ve experienced have been the official government dispensaries in Quebec. (Last time I went, hope they’ve changed)

They go hard at making it boring to dissuade youth use but also have painfully restricted barebones, bland selection, like weed shop in gulag
It’s fascinating, as one of the few remaining unlicensed industries, there are ongoing gang / turf wars now being fought over psychedelic/ mushroom dispensaries. It’s like the Wild West here (Toronto) but I certainly don’t lack for options.
I used to think 7up was zup, under armor brand was called X, couldn’t read classic coke, couldn’t read the sign for most major department stores (except for eatons), stumbled over most major metro station names, wasnt catholic so thought Pie IX was…. Pie Ix.

My mom thinks a popular truck is FISO
I wasn’t flagged with dyslexia as a kid despite thinking Radiohead was actually Radon head (much cooler name) for the first 8-10 years
Condo rules stipulate that we can’t have a gin still inside the unit, so it must be hung outside above Bloor street for safety
They won’t let us have exploding appliances in our building. I’m from Quebec so I had to sign a form promising not to barbecue indoors
My M1a1 jet turbine washing machine spins up and really gets close to rocking itself to pieces, must have an internal sensor that eases off if the weight distribution isn’t right; it’s gonna be real interesting when that breaks down
That Simpsons represents America at its most self aware and that this has been made possible by fox is an irony hard and sharp enough to cut the sinew and tendon of god
I guess Mormonism & evangelicalism really created a kind of faith/belief structure specifically resistant to blatant contradictions or facts, allowed for eventual conceit of “our Beatles are way better than YOUR Rolling Stones” and “Jesus would own an AR-15, was white”
Technically x files and millennium are both in the yappiverse
This took me thirty minutes to remember
Mulder: hey yappi, what am I thinking about?
Yappi: humph! So’s your old man
The Simpsons summed up America and religion perfectly when Homer goes to heaven but makes impossible demands to god, whom he then threatens with “you’ve made a powerful enemy, god” while shaking his fist
Waiting for when I finally meet god, give him the old “babel fish” dilemma to banish him. He retorts that it’s fictional so doesn’t count, I counter with “so’s your old man!” And “oh yeah? C’mere a minute”
That’s when my brain made a little mental note about Demerol ™ and to ask for it by name in future
Thought I saw god when I had my wisdom teeth out, which being an atheist came as a shock. I surmised it wasn’t really god but a fourth or fifth dimensional being trying to force sections of itself into our reality, warping space time.

It was a mobile hanging from the ceiling in the crash room.
Emotional Dysregulation makes me yearn for/seek out things with clear & loud resonance, the people or places that invoke a strong feeling, where one sensation stands out stronger than the rest, gives us a clarity, some degree of certainty. I guess my psych quest mirrors this.
I do believe in the bill hicks “man on acid” thing of one achieving greater consciousness/ connection to universe but only because this new state of mind helps them see the utterly obvious, the world we conceal beneath the crude artifice of society
Always sought some mystical David lynch/ken russel/ jodorosky type apparition or creation that speaks to something unique and has something profound to say. I guess my subconscious ruins it by knowing it’s just by subconscious and nothing real or external
Never done acid, always wondered about the scary stories I was told about, if they were as propagandistic as the stuff spread about weed. What few hallucinations I’ve had (NyQuil&fever, Demerol) classify more as sensory perception issues. Nothing fantastic, just inability to visually resolve stuff
I’m sort of a psychedelic noob, have always been curious but cautious, searching for true metaphysical moment where the nature of reality is laid bare. Done mushrooms a dozen or so times and at least once hard enough to cause serious sensory / perception issues, usually acute feeling or time stretch
No, very mundane. Total letdown. No ancestors or lizard god or aliens or coyotes or nuthing
