Corporate greed is extending global reliance on dirty energy. We need real investments in renewables + the political will to stand up to fossil fuel interests & protect public health.

As Mumbai sees increased energy demand from new datacenters, particularly from Amazon, the filthiest neighbourhood in one of India’s largest cities must keep its major coal plants

Every new well that Shell sinks kills more people.

Recent cutting-edge work by #climate scientists demonstrates how we can now attribute the deaths that will be caused from individual oil & gas projects...

Premier Smith and I have agreed to a framework built on shared ambitions — to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, unlock the full potential of Alberta’s energy resources, and build a stronger, more sustainable, more competitive economy.

This week @ketanjoshi.co joins @parismarx.com to discuss the greenwashing of data centers and how they’re driving fossil fuel demand.

Generative AI is this weird little ferret that is carrying a tall pole with a red flag at the top, and it roots out the worst pre-existing problems in society and plants a little slop-flag in them

eg: how companies have made scientific publishing into a for-profit low quality content mill
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

By contrast, in the West, central banks were made "independent" as part of neoliberal reforms, specifically in order to *prevent* them from aligning investment with anything other than capital accumulation.
