Heads up if, in addition to being besotted with table top role playing games, you're also in to photography then feel free to follow over on photofly. From a walk this morning where I got these three boats silhouetted against the incoming storm front ... seconds before they were all blown over.
Right place, right time. There is an element of luck in being in the optimal place to take a photograph. This morning's walk along the beach seconds before the boats were blown over by the huge incoming storm front. #photography #melbourne Fujifilm XT5 1/750 @ f9

To all media companies trying to bring back the nostalgia of waiting a week for an episode - stop it. We're not living in a world of simple script self contained episodes. Your convoluted arse script requires immediate continuity. Waiting a week so you need a recap is dumb. The end.

Damn this Neil Gaiman situation keeps getting worse and worse. I loved his books. Such an awful betrayal for fans and people who believed he was amazing for so many years. If even a fraction of what he did turns out to be true he needs to spend a long time looking at a very small room.

Like seriously, what's the end game for the human race if hyper capitalism gets to choose AI over people? Does automation need a tax that flows to job creation? I'm not seeing the swathes of new jobs replacing the ones AI is taking.

Reading an internal case study about a customer deploying genAI agents that can do in an hour what it takes a financial analyst a week to do. Customer frothing about scale and efficiency. Nobody talking about impending redundancy for the analyst. I hate this trend.

Thank you Bluesky. I just don't know how I'm going to get through the next couple of years without this.

It is only fair that the great Nyarlathotep is the first output of the new printer. All hail the crawling chaos.

A few technical issues - VOD up tomorrow. Audio is a pain in the a$$. Any gurus out there that can help me with 1/ getting local audio back to discord and 2/ reliably capturing player cameras from discord in OBS. These are my two biggest pain points currently.
Overall the game was okay from a streaming standpoint, certainly from audio - will throw the VOD up tomorrow. We'll look back on these VODs in the future and have a good laugh at our start.

We will also be doing occasional one-shot or small campaign adventures where we delve into new systems and figure it out together on stream as we play. If a chill homestyle approach to gaming is your jam (and no we are not voice actors) then join us and hang out.

Important update: I've created a 2nd channel called Roll for Sanity to focus on the tabletop roleplaying streaming content in particular. This channel will continue to focus more on the content creation, game creation, art and writing side. Follow over on bsky.app/profile/ther...

Ok so have some new gear wired in for tomorrow night's stream. I've isolated out the audio sources for better control and have a decent microphone in place. Am still a little worried about the music going to the VODs as I don't feel like hitting a copyright strike off the bat. Any suggestions?

It's always nice to see the itch dashboard tick over. While it is super satisfying there are people out there who enjoy my stories and modules I think I am somewhat off my goal of becoming a retired horror and rpg writer. Oh well, there's still a few good years left in the bones :)

hackrpg.itch.io/the-memories... brings a new 2024 update to The Memories Below - A modern Call of Cthulhu scenario. New is the inclusion of strong cult elements (Cult of the Cosmic Angler) and guidelines for conference/longer game play. Hope you enjoy it and let me know how it ran at your table!

As a non-American I cannot fathom, for one instant, how someone that clearly deranged and mentally and morally confused is with a stones-throw of the Atomic biscuit. Like help us understand .... the debate was terrifying. Does he have even the most tenuous grasp on reality anymore?

20% is generous for this pile of dog-sh$t. Who ... I ask seriously, who loved the original movie was asking for a rewrite and one that is so unfaithful to the original? So tired of wannabe writer hacks screwing up good source material.

Hey @sskorkowsky.bsky.social - I've come across image versions of your CoC 7th Edition cheat sheets which are great references for newer or infrequent players. Are these available as a PDF anywhere? I did look but can't seem to find it referenced anywhere.

In every pre-2000 book of the future it showed automation and technology leading to a Renaissance of the human condition freeing us up from toil and boredom to live our best lives. It just never factored in human greed and selfishness.

In the span of my lifetime we've gone from single income housing affordability and the ability to make a living from creative pursuits like art and photography to a hustle culture survival sprint where we own nothing and can afford nothing. Remember we chose this.

As a GM with 2 bookshelves groaning under the weight of paper I hope ttRPG publishers think about the VTT+PDF bundle options more. I personally don't want to support walled garden subscription environments to access game content.
