This case inspired quick outrage, partly because some wondered how the government could do this to a child, and partly because DHS Assistant Sec. Tricia McLaughlin falsley claimed via X that the boy had "an extensive rap sheet" was armed with a gun and a knife. Local cops now say he had no gun.

ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.

Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.
