I love the egalitarian nature of the England flags at the #Ashes - no big teams in sight, all Walsall, Stoke, Reading and York City.

HORROR TOP TRUMPS (1978): Colossally gruesome sets, featuring blood, gore, and dismemberment. A playground classic. And it's like two games in one: can you name all the film and TV images homaged by the cards?

NOBODY'S HOUSE (1976): Children's comedy drama from ITV about a family who moves into a haunted antiques shop. The ghost in question is 'Nobody', a 14-year-old Victorian orphan who died of the plague in the building's basement, back when it was a workhouse. It's a comedy, honest!

Holy crap.

I'm not going to spoil it but this is genuinely bonkers.
It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…

I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...
London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

this thread. yeesh.
We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

The Epstein stuff was on the radio and I was wondering how many other super rich people there were holding law breaking/people abusing parties there were and for some reason that off the record party Boris Johnson went to in Italy without his security detail came to mind.

This is important to remember when Houchen starts banging on about the AI data center he wants to bring to Teesworks - they don't exist (yet.)

Which is absolutely on-brand for that sweaty charlatan.

Easy pickings for @leighsus.bsky.social
here is an insane thing I have learned: it appears that nobody has any real idea of how much actual, functional GPU capacity exists. Not "in progress," not "set to come online," I mean actual functional in-use capacity.

Considering the US stock market is based on selling millions of these things, you'd think it'd be much easier to say A) where they went and B) what they were doing. 6 million blackwell GPUs shipped - I can find evidence of maybe...50,000 installed? 75k max?

What would that number even mean, anyway? It seems like the market is treating GPUs as 'investments', but they actually a consumable.

In a large data center cards burn out and get replaced all the time. Any value for the number in use will end up changing almost daily.
