Burning wood harms the climate, trees & people.
#Drax must go.
Drax, UK’s largest single carbon emitter (says independent energy think tank Ember) has converted its coal plant in Yorkshire to fire biomass, a critical driver behind UK importing 9mn tonnes of tree pellets/yr

Parts of England + Ireland are reaching the point of water stress - perilously close to not having enough water resources to meet demand, yet water firms have to be pushed, year after year, to take steps to address this. Explore water stress where you live on our map:

DEFRA has just published a consultation on solid fuel burning. We're happy to see a long-term campaign ask addressed - warning labels on stoves. However, the proposals will only impact future emissions; they will do nothing to help all those affected by existing burning. #CleanAirNight #WoodBurning

It’s #CleanAirNight! Did you know that wood burning is the most polluting way to heat your home? Wood burning smoke produces fine particulate air pollution (PM2.5), which enters your bloodstream when inhaled and can cause heart & lung disease, as well as increase your risk of diabetes and dementia

This Pollutionwatch is an interesting read about measuring exhaust fumes and the difference that the placement of an exhaust pipe makes.

This research also re-confirms that #Diesel vehicles still dominate exhaust pollution, even though newer models emit less. Fortunately, diesel is on its way out!
Exhaust pipe position affects how much air pollution we breathe, research finds
Cars that emit fumes closer to pavement result in pedestrians experiencing 40% more pollution
