Interesting that @larianstudios.com posts a job for a junior sound designer requiring a full AAA cycle experience.

That goes against the trend I have observed of promoting people early, as a sort of compensation instead of proper career support or salary increase.

I live in Stockholm and I have been following very closely the explosion of the smaller studios branching out from Dice, Avalanche, Machine Games...
Now Cult of the North is closing down after reaching pre-alpha, Fall Damage crashed, Liquid Swords (my previous employer) downsized dramatically.

Ive been working on this game on my free time for 3 years. The first 6 months were amazing.

Comparing a build from then and now it feels I barely made any progress.

The concept hasn’t changed much, I can still picture it and play it perfectly in my head, but slow progress is really tough.

Quick update for readability; I've added some sort of portaling VFX when you respawn at the start of the room.

Bugs and asserts are piling up as I'm moving forward with features though, I need to address the ghost's rotation and aiming to make sure it works as intended.

So here’s the current gameplay loop that emerged from me playing around in #ue5 with this simple basic idea:

Fast paced FPS where you respawn at the beginning of the room as soon as you die, without resetting the level.

The goal is to find the button that opens the door to the next room.

New addition to this speedy prototype:
You respawn with a robot copy of you previous run that helps you moving forward.
When its done recreating your moves it just tags along an provide additional firepower.

So here's the current stage of the concept:
- Shooting robots deactivate them for X seconds
- Robots can shoot you on sight very fast
- If you are shot you spawn back immediately to the starting point

Also it was a typo but now it is the title for this project #protytpe

I imagine I need to learn how to bake, or jump into texturing to achieve that level of detail without using that amount of cuts.

Playing around with texture normal would be a lot cheaper right?
