Without them, I would be pretty lost. This also includes the modding scene, as well as simple Let's Play videos without commentaries. A great community that is bigger than you might think - bless them!

This. Unfortunately, the big “IP custodians” tend to be the bad guys. Especially EA and the like (see also the “Stop Killing Games” initiative). I have since learned that video game archivists are real professions and to be honest, I also depend on them for my retro research heavily.

I'm also one of those retro guys (see my own game). I dig the fog the most, reminding me of Turok somehow. Both of the styles have Its charm. For comparison: I received mostly negative feedback on my style in the beginning, but meanwhile it's quite the opposite. However, yours will be great!
