I have about half a box of this left if you’re sold by Lesly’s lovely comments about STARCROSSED!

Starcrossed is another great one shot tale by @fraserc69.bsky.social idk how you do it but I'm envious. particularly enjoyable payoff @alfiegallagher.bsky.social such a good looking book: emotional expression, scale of some scenes, swordfighting, cool ass magic and memorable characters.
Starcrossed. Epic cover with main villain in the background. Two protagonists back to back holding swords. Flanking them are characters in red( left) and yellow (right)

Not mad busy so I’m going to do some detailed pencil sketches. First one! JOhn Constantine!
Pencil drawing of John Constantine. A ma looking tired with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. Unshaded with spiked hair and a single earring.

The colour weathering on the door and surround is fantastic. The Roman tiles are making me think of Tunnocks Tea Cakes 🙂

Yes, there is one older artist I know who is fantastic and his work now is still very much great but to have increased his output so drastically is alarming. He is still doing his own thing and his work looks like his but the turn around of one great painting after another is telling.

So many great artists I admire and respect but it is obvious that their ‘reference’ work on composition for pieces is coming from AI. People who would normally turn out ten great pieces a year are suddenly creating four or five times the amount and all amazing.

I feel your pain, I have a similar work experience to you and have faced the same hopelessness. It seems like it will never get better and in many ways it will only just change. Be kind to yourself and take comfort that you are an incredibly resourceful creative person that counts and is needed.

Don't forget I have a snazzy new book on Kickstarter right now. It's called Savage Strangehollow and it's the fourth in a series of books set in the world I created. Filled with loads of wonderful creatures!

The urge will return, produce work purely for yourself is the key.

I found my ‘case worker’ quite sympathetic but yeah the whole deal is skewed and makes you feel terrible. Plus you have to basically go through it online every month declaring your earnings and deductions and then go in every few months for face to face. I hate it.

Lay me down where the greenery stings
#art #artsky #drawing #sketchbook #surrealism #traditionalart #inkart #inkdrawing
Ink drawing of stinging nettles and hands in striking positions can be seen emerging from the plants. Several heads are hidden throughout the drawing. In the background, a horde of figures are seen climbing over each other, reaching out to a person falling from the sky. Framing the drawing are canyon walls.

Drawing loosely inspired by the song “Nettles” by Ethel Cain
