Nightmarish. CBS News is now running straight state propaganda. They handed Hegseth all three segments and are now tweeting flattering sound bites.

Foggy New Year I guess. I bet the people at the Space Needle can't even see the top right now.

Flock is a garbage company with garbage security.
SCOOP: Flock left at least 60 of its AI-powered, people-tracking surveillance cameras exposed and livestreaming to the open internet. We tracked ourselves. The exposure highlights the power of these cameras and types of things they're tracking. Not just cars.

There is a tremendous opportunity for a brand new generation of media outlets to rise up right now because many news outlets that spent decades painstakingly building their credibility are seeing it torched by bootlickers with incredible speed.

The person who was killed last night crossing Beacon Ave on a bike by a hit-and-run driver was named Allie. They were described as a "hard-core cyclist."

The vigil/protest is expected to take over Beacon and Stevens until midnight, if SPD lets that happen.

My former precinct 43-3700 is always a weird one. It's in the middle of SLU but is right leaning. Why? The Mirabella retirement community! There's 5 different apartment buildings in the precinct but Mirabella made up 69% of the votes in Nov. 68% of the voters in November were above the age of 73!

Congrats to @gordonofseattle.bsky.social for being on Wilson's transition team!

It's actually a good thing that Cascade Bike Club has a member on Wilson's transition team even though their org endorsed Harrell.

If the endorsement was a hedge against a vindictive Harrell then not picking them because of their endorsement feels like following in Harrell's footsteps.

Hot take: If Jumpstart tax revenue is ever going to be moved back to it's original purpose of funding affordable housing I think Wilson will need to cut back in next years budget. Blame former mayor Harrell for getting us into this mess.

The Seattle Times Editorial today was probably the most bad faith reading of Wilson's first mayor-elect speech. Truly an awful piece.

The Seattle progressive sweep is also a message to current Seattle City Council incumbents. Voters care a lot about affordability right now. Do all you can to make the city more affordable in the next 2 years if you want to win re-election.

Important history to note. Wilson will probably be the eventual winner but we need to wait until at least tomorrow to be even more sure (and wait out the curable ballots as well).
Here is the main reason I’d be a bit wary of calling the Seattle mayor’s race just yet.

In the 2017 race (Durkan v Moon), Durkan’s numbers got steadily worse, except for a sudden and brief reversal when there were about 7,000 votes left to count.

With the 4 PM ballot return stats update Seattle is now at 55.31% returned ballots. Highest odd year returns since at least 2011, beating out 2021.
At 55.13% turnout for Seattle this election is now the second highest turnout since 2021 which had 55.30% turnout.

Before 2011 it's precinct data only which would make getting turnout numbers painful.
