I'm 5'2, I was under 5 ft for most of my life. The first time I had a police officer put a flashlight/gun in my face I was 8/9. I was in the backseat of a car, pulled over with my uncle and aunt (white). They were worried about her 'safety, ' and demanded i provide ID. I was a child.

Good god I tore into him on that one. Right after that campaign, I sent him a letter, an actual letter because emails are easily ignored, explaining how it was a dagger in the heart to betray people who are being threatened right now, and that he should be ashamed of himself. I never got a response.

It's still true no matter how tired you get of hearing it.

This is how I survive, being trans online. Where I live there are a lot of people, with guns, who hate trans people, who hate LGBTQ+ people in general, and would LOVE to commit violence against us. My family would kick me out and I'd likely die.
