A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

What’s a reasonable set of expectations that fans need to see to think to ourselves coach smith might work? My take, he’s gotta win at least one between Michigan and PennState and make a bowl
Game.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

The Schlieffen Plan would have been successful if Belgians would have provided access to their water closets in 1914. The hours and hours German soldiers wasted looking for a bathroom really stymied their momentum.

Graham you’ve been watching this MSU football team for a year and a half. What can you point to that says we are laying any kind of foundation for future championships? We are a bottom third of the league team right now and I don’t see that important time soon.

state after state could solve this college funding shakedown from the Trump administration by just agreeing to fund universities at the levels they did in the early 1990s.

Graham are you coming to town for the MSU v PSU outdoor hockey game?
What’s the over under on MSU hockey wins this season?
For MSU fans coming to Happy Valley it’s a great college town that happens to be in the middle of nowhere.

Since the Ezra & Ta-Nehisi discussion is still happening: the main point I think most are missing is that Klein is saying the role of the journalist-intellectual is to do strategic politics, whereas Coates says the role of the journalist-intellectual is to tell the truth

I’ve been rooting for MSU for thirty years—ever since that epic UM vs. MSU game in 1995 when MSU beat the cheaters. In 30 years MSU has hired the right coach once. There is no reason we should be anything worse than a consistent 8 win football team. Disappointing to see such a weak defense.

The football game is on CBS so that means it won’t be on Peacock like last week, CBS means I have to check Paramount because it’s not airing locally otherwise I’d have to check Hulu Live TV and if it wasn’t there I’d have to check NFL Sunday ticket, which I pay $400/year for but never airs my game

SCOTUS & MAGA abolished affirmative action because universities cannot use race when determining admissions but allowed legacy admissions because it massively benefits white students but abolished DEI because of the lie of meritocracy but allowed profiling Latinos for ICE raids.

One word: FASCISM.
