With it being Steam Next Fest, I'm doing my own little 'Hype The Homies' stream. We're starting with The Killing Stone and Tides of Tomorrow in just a moment, with some excellent gems to follow

Really good thread about how David made the demon opponents feel like diabolical, intelligent entities.

I've got a whole bunch of notes written up for a presentation I'd like to do sometime about the AI in this game. (Enemy AI, not generative AI, sad that I always have to disclaim this now.) If you'd be interested in that or if you'd have questions about how it works, please let me know! DMs are open.

The demo of our folk horror card strategy game The Killing Stone is live!

We gots creepy characters and furry friends and so many animated figurines with sweet VFX. Also the enemy AI is pretty diabolical, that's on me.

Please check it out and leave a review!

Things that cost nothing - but is a HUGE help for any and all indie devs:

Wishlisting - it gives games data to show publishers there is interest.

Leave a Review - ESPECIALLY if you liked the game. Reviews on steam lead to the algo serving you up to others.

Reposting - it's an attention economy.

Dating sim except instead of dating, you're trying to get the pets to love you. It will print money.

Too soon to say, but Robbing Time gets me:

Holy hell, y'all - nextfest is *huge*. Seems wise to speak up elsewhere, too.

Want to play our demo - which includes a pretty meaty chunk of our historical / occult horror story + deckbuilder gameplay w/ a twist? It's here. If you're into it, please review!🫀

Ok, I realize that's supposed to say "breathe" but WOW did this cozy background sound focus noise video turn ominous real fast.
Text that says "Don't worry, breath, keep working," like it's talking to your breath instead of telling you to breathe.

I picked "The Forktailed Cat in the Rotting Temple." If I gotta go, may as well let my last words be "here, kitty, kitty!"

Once per project I stress dream that I had to support an absolutely bonkers request at the 11th hour. This time it was adding multiplayer to our decidedly single player game. Previous installments include making the game install malware as a joke and onboarding my cat to help with implementation.

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,

I may have, on occasion, given @dphrygian.com a hard time for just giggling when I complain that his AI is a jerk. But today someone told me my AI was a jerk and I just giggled, and OH OK I GET IT NOW!

(AI meaning game enemy code, not the generative kind.)

On the last game, I worked on "the bullshit system" and that sure made meetings more fun. One day I got to announce to the entire company, "I'm working on bullshit today" and they were legit excited to hear that.

I can't say really. I definitely get fewer likes/replies than on FB, but in my case I chalked that up to a skill issue. But having this much control over my feed so that I see the things I want and ONLY the things I want... is worth getting less engagement on my posts.
