This is who she was.
Passionate in her beliefs. Fiercely loyal to her friends. Never afraid to let you know exactly where she stood. The best.

Fun Fact: I remember arguing with her over which of us hated Piggy the most. I was sure I did. She disagreed. It remains unresolved...
Carrie Fisher was the blueprint.

My favourite moment during the Brexit negotiations was when David Davis went to the press to complain that none of the EU member states would agree to negotiate trade deals with Britain on a one-on-one basis and would only do so as a bloc – as though they were in some sort of union.
we told you with extreme specificity what would happen if you did brexit and you did not believe us and did it anyway and then it all came true and now youre going to elect nigel farage?? same guy who made the whole country poor once already? sorry but youre just a good punchline rn

This is bizarre. Like the editor of the guardian or mail or any other paper complaining repeatedly about the front page lead they decided to run with.

Very good example of what's wrong with broadcast news - they've given up deciding for themselves what is or isn't news and what the priorities are
It’s a sign of how insane the news cycle is these days that this historic failure of government policy got just one day of news coverage this week.

Not saying that’s right or wrong, but it’s astonishing how quickly the agenda moves on these days.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

Even the murderer, the guy who ordered the journalist to be executed and dismembered with a bone saw, looks a bit embarassed for our American president.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Blows my mind that the writer of one of the finest experimental novels of recent years cannot find purchase with the UK's allegedly 'No one publishes the stuff we dare to!' indie publishing sector. Generic, humdrum, feelings-fodder trumps the technically advanced, poetucally astute always.
Attempting to rally myself and my agent into resending out an (edited, expanded) story collection. I would like my work to persist, even as the heat death of the planet nears. Like making a memento mori and throwing it in the smelter

What’s happened here is that, by sticking to their guns and refusing to be intimidated and shitehoused, the club and police have thankfully prevented Parliament and the press inciting rioting and running battles in the streets of a major city.

That's Elon Musk who has repeatedly called for civil war in the UK.

Bet365 CEO Denise Coates paid herself £277,000,000 this year, and £410,000,000 in 2020.

This was more than 20,000x the Minimum Wage that she paid most of her workers.

The betting industry needs to be taxed, heavily.

Americans want to watch charismatic people solve moderately difficult problems on a weekly basis. That’s it. And a group of fomo execs and techbros who don’t watch TV drove one of the most profitable industries in the US off a cliff rather than accept that.
Look what happenes when a TV show releases every year, with more than 8 episodes a season.

All in the last 2 years.

Unprecedented in recent times? In 2023 Legia Warsaw fans were banned from a game at Villa Park.

This is grim & dangerous over reach.

This is a government that have lost the moral argument & are still selling arms to Israel. Now further cracking down on dissent.

Absolutely the opposite of what they should be doing - so of course this is what the Labour Government choose.
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

Haven't you just stepped inside the whole racist, essentialist beliefs of such people, and taken a seat?
What do innocent Jewish people in Britain have to do with genocidal war-crimes in Palestine? Who is making this connection?
