The problem with stealing from millions is that even if you are able to win lawsuits you will drown in court fees when even 2% of them start pressing charges. You have to remember the company is already losing a ton of money from just being a bad business.
Caves of Qud
I just want one game where the hyper advanced desert civilization turns to the white protag and goes "Shut up, we invented the concept of zero before you did." and then continues the plot without missing a beat.
Really odd to put this on a card that already gives you temporary red mana
Ah yes, day of black sun, famously known to- *checks notes*
Counter earthbending
Something tells me they will make the change before strixhaven, seeing how the vehicle change was made right before stations and the hybrid mana is coming right before lorwyn.
Lets just hope they dont make a set revolved around non-legendaries
Things may suck now but 1000 years from now people with wings and scorpion tails will find the painting I made in a lost ruin and that's pretty comforting
Anyone saying that's not an aunt better come with a family tree diagram prepared I'm too tired for that amount of pedantry in a full conversation
This method works really well in cases where the player couldn't forsee the task being harder than expected, or when it's not obvious you blatantly shifted reality to make the failure seem reasonable (first two examples are great). Just that sometimes its better to just say "you can't do that" prior
While I agree I'de like to push back at least partially, since I do think there is a time and place to shift the blame on failure. For instance- from the player's perspective, if even a giant couldn't lift this portcullis, why was there a roll to begin with? What would've happened if I rolled well?
Constellations are so erratic that they change over time even if you're staying on the same planet, and that's on top of the fact they are basically made up shapes based on very subjective connection of dots. If you made a theorhical new civ on mars they will also come up with new constellations.
"Wish I could be ballin'" -low poly cow probably
Ah, so the other meaning of "I'm afraid"
The lack of rats tied to propellers in the replies is concerning
Steam sale but theres a bartender going like "listen this is your 7th 10 dollar game youll never play im cutting you off"
The zetachrome weapon being the only part of the main questline with no deterministic way to complete is something i've been flipflopping about for a while. It's basically asking you to stop the main quest and go real deep into the side stuff til you hit jackpot, which makes you experiment way more.
I just think artifact is a silly word to use here (and I fully understand that this is a pedantic point to make), the named rarity isn't really about the item being artificially made as much as it is about its immense power and uniqueness. Any +1 sword is technically an artifact.
I would agree when it's refering to humanoids like elves or kenku or whatever, but a bunch of artifacts are made by things like gods, demons and liches, at which point I don't think "person" applies because they are distinctly above the mortal playfield.
My most pednatic pet peeve is artifacts in D&D are often made by things that are not human, making them literally not artifacts
Sorry but your scifi planet culture can't feel real if it doesnt have its own name for mixing stuff with rice in a bowl and claims it invented the concept of mixing stuff with rice in a bowl
2nd edition alone was its own library 😅
Heres a handy chart to visualize just how much they used to print back in the day (first is # of books, 2nd is just raw number of pages)

Oh for sure I didn't mean to imply this is a brand new issue, though I feel it's been trending more in recent years. The newer rules are rarely ever made for a setting-based narrative reason, and there's further mechanical push for setting-agnostic play compared to older editions.
I think we are losing that side of D&D mostly cause WotC itself doesn't really see the game as a setting as much as just a set of mechanics. The push for the game to be "the everything system" means all they see in D&D is name recognition and the same turn based combat.
