Gotta say I find it a little odd that people are quick to assume bad faith on the side of quoter while seeing the ones being quoted as precious little angels that should be able to pull the plug from criticism if they don't get the response they want. It's a two way street.

While I agree it would still be powerful at 4 I honestly don't know if I would put it in any deck if it costed 5. Holding up 5 mana is a huge investment for the hope the opponent carelessly slams a huge guy into it, and if they don't (or god forbid have a way around your counter), you just wasted 5.

While true, counterspells naturally demand you keep that mana up after you pass your turn, so raising the cost of a counterspell is generally more impactful than raising the cost of a proactive card. Counterspells are almost always a mana advantage, this offers potentially more mana at higher risk.

Honestly wondering how much this needs to cost to be a fair card. Something tells me it would still be pretty good at 2UU.
