The last time I ran dogs was Wednesday last week - due to a variety of reasons, I was going to be too busy every day until the following Wednesday to run again. (I also tripped over the gangline and landed directly on my knee that run so, not the worst thing, I got time to recover 🤣)

Making some quickie orange visibility bandanas for deer hunting season coming up. I have high vis capes that are great visibility from the side, but do nothing for the front. So we are adding another layer of safety!

This past weekend we went to Shaw's Rig Session hosted by the Magnussons. Its basically a giant party of a training weekend where tons of mushers get together and train on the same trails to practice passing and dog manners. Passing makes my dogs SO excited so they had the MOST fun.

Vet visit yesterday and there was no pus in his nails when they were trimmed! His thyroid is 4pts into the low end but due to current meds (steroid and anti-fungal) and we aren’t out of the woods yet we are holding off on treating thyroid. He is not clinically showing signs

I should have made this up a long time ago, but another dog recently passed of ARVC (not one of ours this time) and it prompted me to get my butt into gear. If anyone hears of a sleddog passing suddenly please feel free to share this infographic on the off chance it winds up being ARVC.

We've been rotating leaders, old and new, next to Legend aka best girl. Today it was Kestrel. Last season he lost a lot of trust with me...on runs over 20-25 miles, he would start trying to poop every mile. Kestrel unfortunately hasn't figured out how to poop on the fly.

Finally out again! Its been a very slow start to the season, battling the 50+ degree lows and thinking about Compass, my most heat sensitive dog, and his safety. Nice and cool this morning though and looks like we should have at least a week of good temps, if not waving goodbye to summer entirely!
