Funny* isn't that the Media complain about the 15% payrise for Train Drivers over 3 years, or the 22% payrise for Doctors over 3 years.

But they ignore the 76% payrise for CEO's over the last 5 years, or the 38% payrise for Bankers in 1 year.

*Disgusting

According to a medieval Irish legal text on cats called Catslechtae (Cat-Sections), if a cat is able to purr and to catch mice, it’s worth three cows and if it’s only able to purr, it’s worth one cow and a half.
I don't know whether this is funny or depressing. I do know that Nolan shouldn't be anywhere near the bench. Git

Just paid the aul' income tax for the year and consequently have about two beans left to rub together, so if you've been looking for a bit of Irish art now's a very good time to buy. It's this or train the crows to rob billionaires and I'm running out of cheese bribes
A cost-of-living crisis isn't the easiest time to sell art, but: www.ciaraioch.com is where you can support my work, with each archival-quality print on textured heavy paper being produced here in Ireland, shipping internationally in eco-friendly packaging, with free mini-treats in every order 🎁

Starvation is always a policy choice. Just like homelessness.
The USDA is the fail safe for SNAP.

They have a contingency fund to ensure it’s covered in the event of a shutdown.

They’re refusing.

Grocery stores stepped up to try and help by offering discounts to any SNAP recipients and the USDA told them they had to stop.

Starvation as a policy choice.

For additional context
1) Over €100m of overpayments *was* recovered
2) 75% of the unrecoverable payments were to people who are now dead
3) the vast, vast majority of such payments are down to errors by the Dept, not fraud by the dead.
€15 million in unrecovered welfare payments. Wow, that really sounds like a LOT!

But. Take the total spent on social welfare to be roughly €25 billion annually - it's a bit higher.

That's 0.06% unrecovered. Or about 6c in every €1000. Or to put it another way, negligible.
Ooh, every time Elon touches Grok it goes Goebbels. Shocker.

A proposal: anyone who invests in Tesla, or any of Musk's other ventures should be assumed to be a Nazi, because Musk's a Nazi. He's not even smart enough to be subtle. A gonif, a creep, & a Nazi. You support him? You're pure dreck too
Oh, do fuck off, Mehole. House building is hampered by FF's determined instinct for corruption, & FG's dogmatic insistence on punishing the poor. A toxic combo that has nothing to do with the evil EU insisting that homes be liveable & the environment protected
Oh, there's nothing funny about it. Sinister. Evil. In some ways it is lucky Musk is so astonishingly inept. In more ways it is unlucky that so many are too stupid to realise...

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.
I'm looking to buy myself some nice, preferably Irish made, fridge magnets. Cats coffee &/or eat the rich would be the themes of preference
He's certainly never found wanting for something to say when it's *his* home & family threatened. He expects to be treated as a human being. Turn about is fair play & Ireland is supposed to be all about fair play. And yet...
Ged Nash also called on the Tánaiste Simon Harris to issue a statement on the arson attack, saying he is someone who is “never found wanting to comment on anything that might occur in our society” and has yet to comment on what’s happened in the town.

Which really begs the question: WHO constitutes the real danger here?
Any politico using the phrase "Legitimate concerns" has questions to answer about this crime (SERIOUS side-eye, SF). Because there AREN'T any LEGITIMATE concerns. All there is is propaganda bandied about by groups that disproportionately include domestic abusers www.thejournal.ie/drogheda-ipa...

Wages are not the problem causing inflation. The antics of a rentier class hell-bent on squeezing unearned gains out of everything are the problem. That & a bunch of politicians wilfully complicit in that rapacious extraction www.thejournal.ie/minimum-wage...
Ireland’s minimum wage will rise above €14 per hour - will this cause inflation?
A rise in the minimum wage could ruffle prices, but the effect is likely smaller than you think.

There are many horrible things about getting old, however having considered all the available evidence I have decided the worst (or at least the most embarrassing) is crippling your back by... cutting your toenails

Every far-right riot and protest that was tolerated, every racist dog whistle from public reps, every bit of hate and misinformation allowed to spread by social media companies, all led to this moment in Drogheda last night where someone felt emboldened enough to try to burn children alive.

Ahead of Ireland’s presidential elections, ISD & H&CC found 172 false/misleading posts, as well as 43 AI-gen ones including a deepfake claiming Catherine Connolly’s withdrawal & the election’s cancellation. The brief urges tackling both harmful content & the algorithms that amplify it. More below.
