Today's little slice of Truth from @waltwriting.bsky.social's Power Chords concerns the pop phenomenon that was The Human League and I'm going back to the source, to that first 1978 single, Being Boiled. It was different, we knew pioneers when we saw them.

This. Don't do it, kids!
Did you know that, by resisting the compulsion of buying another unnecessary plastic tat you will maybe use once this Black Friday, you could fight corporate-driven consumerism AND help the planet? Win-win!

Please read this #thread
Thought I'd try a little thread about getting ill and all those glorious benefits, worth £20k, we all get.
Now I've never done this or said much about what's up with me but why not, sure it'll make no difference to some but it might others. 1/n

I went to a boarding school in the 1970s and 80s. It was a racist (and sexist) environment and most of the white boys at my school participated in that. I did too till I learned not to. As Chris says, there is no evidence that Farage learned those lessons.
So I’ve hesitated to share this but I will. When I was a schoolboy, I said cruel, hurtful, racist things to fellow pupils. By the time I reached sixth form I had matured enough to feel remorse and I apologised to them; they didn’t all accept the apology which is fair enough. 1/2

In stead of sending a link to old threads every time someone uses the term "Dark Ages", I decided to put it all in an article.

The air was thick with catcalls, no pun intended
But not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered straight to behind the alleyway
She knew what she wanted
She was looking for that stud bull
She was looking for that He-cat
And that was me...
