📢📢📢CALLING ALL PARENTS ALL ACROSS ONTARIO!!! SHARE WIDELY!

Join Parents Against Speeding and plan a local event on Oct 20 to protest the shutting down of Ontario's life-saving school zone speed safety camera program. Tell Doug Ford it's wrong to care more about lawbreakers than kids' safety!
I was thinking about this today, here in Ontario. I remember in the early 1990s in university that September was chilly and even occasionally had frost. This season is off the rails. I dressed for summer today and rode around on my bike. So it was awesome but not quite right.
#Toronto this is true. Longer, wider and more massive vehicles leave no room for others to park. And they are more likely to kill.
Can't find parking? Blame larger cars.

"Expanding the average car length from 5 meters (16.4 feet) to 5.5 meters (18 feet) decreases street parking spots by 9.3%... The growing share of larger vehicles has caused many on-street parking spots to effectively disappear."
Meet the Montreal Mayor Who Declared War on SUVs
Oversized vehicles are devouring street parking spaces in the Canadian city. So one borough’s mayor is fighting back with bigger fees for hefty trucks and SUVs.

😱 This is what happens when Greens lead!

Since @davidbelliard.bsky.social from @lesecologistes.fr became Paris’ deputy mayor in 2020, cars were deprioritized, cycling boosted & pollution dropped.

🌻 Cleaner air, safer streets: this is what we want, at a local, national and European level.
Where will it be? Virgin land should not be cleared for solar. Solar on buildings and over pavement is good.
Perhaps yes, we are polite. Nonetheless, it is one of many ways we unnecessarily create congestion.
With no education, no comprehension, no vision and most certainly has no concern for the fallout from his actions, @fordnation will do whatever ensures that he and his buddies are getting ahead. #onpoli We've seen in the past that means eschewing expert opinions or even firing them as in the #ECO
Damning editorial at the Star of Ford’s blue box program. Corporate socialism is the way to term it, it’s how Greenbelt et al went. Benefit for the few, not the most.

Once again, it’s all reported on. It’s there but Ontario voters don’t seem to care & will continue to eat GFL-full trucks of shit.
Star Editorial Board: Ontario’s botched Blue Box reform is a showcase for everything wrong with Doug Ford’s Ontario
Ontario's revamped curbside recycling regime has been so watered down it can no longer reasonably be expected to achieve the policy goals for which it was originally designed.

Driver training is lacking. That is one of many behaviours that make our politicians want to convince us that we need more roads when we really need better drivers.
Just saying #ontario #Toronto; @fordnation is off base.
“In 2023, cars and their drivers killed 8,820 American pedestrians and bicyclists — 7,314 pedestrians and 1,166 cyclists. They injured another 136,281, an increase of over 5,300 injuries from 2022.”

Four cars down . rawr
14 bikes up: silence
People don't need an excuse to leave the car at home, they simply need the infrastructure to allow it.
More and more people using the Ave. Christophe-Colomb bike lanes as construction progresses and more connections open up!
My elderly mother lives in one of those buildings protecting single-family homes, at the junction of a 10-lane thoroughfare and a highway. She is surrounded by unsafe air. She also struggles with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

No where in CBCs story does the journalist tell you it is an American military sub-contractor but a little win for us all getting it into the news:

Unlike my two dogs, they ‘think’ with one brain. 🤷
Agree.
& Living, respiring shade in the form of a canopy of vegetation is cooling and more valuable than tall concrete shade that absorbs heat and radiates it out again.
Vegetation does triple duty as it also manages rainfall and supports mental health. The type of shade matters.

#Toronto
And when we heal ourselves, we are finally capable of healing the earth.
I found the thickness of my E bike frame means locking up with a UL lock can be challenging.
#Ontario, can you only imagine? #region #rail
On one hand, reducing car use reduces urban pollution.
But on the other, everyone likes it and cities become more livable
Yes, absolutely huge behemoths of SUVs are aplenty in #Toronto
Well it would be a lot of kale, but I’ll survive
