Multiple meetings haven't given me the customary 15 minutes advance notice. I am far too reliant on my software telling me.

The media is pretty adamant my career will disappear in 5 years. Not sure I should volunteer for career day for kids when mine won't exist when they graduate.

UGA's police department has complaints from women about creeper guys posting videos of them from these glasses. This feature strikes me as making that situation far, far worse.
Meta reportedly wants to add face recognition to smart glasses while privacy advocates are distracted
The feature could arrive as soon as this year.

Hoppers is an Avatar (Cameron, not Airbender) prequel, right? Humans would test out the technology on something on Earth before deploying it on another planet.

Message in a bottle

Maggie Smith of The Slowdown podcast on the Make Me Smart podcast called writing like a message in bottle. It's putting thoughts out into the world without really knowing who will read it. Without knowing who or how it will affect others. I've had this blog since 2000. That's…
Message in a bottle
Maggie Smith of The Slowdown podcast on the Make Me Smart podcast called writing like a message in bottle. It's putting thoughts out into the world without really knowing who will read it. Without knowing who or how it will affect others. I've had this blog since 2000. That's over a quarter century of messages. Thousands of posts. I am no longer the same person. There's a therapy in putting thoughts into an external brain. Journaling is a good way to help process and not dwell.

That Super Bowl halftime show was beyond incredible, and fun. Here’s the story of how it came together, complete with beautiful photos from @d-jacks.bsky.social.

Inside Bad Bunny’s Historic Super Bowl Halftime Show
Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance required 9,852 theatrical pyrotechnics, nearly 400 costumed extras, and a lot of ingenuity. And yes, that was a real couple featured in the wedding.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

A sales rep digging at Georgia people by bringing up Falcons and Patriots. As long as it's been, I know a ton of people who are super bitter about the Falcons losing. Seemed quite a bad move when you want Georgia money.

Something my white mother learned in the 70s by getting death threats for dating my father.
12. In the case of Alex Pretti, this dynamic has another dimension. According to the either/or logic of white power, the ICU nurse was disloyal. He rejected his birthright by choosing to fight for people brutalized by an unequal and unjust racial caste system.

I am bifocals old. The favicon for a website looks like the poop emoji with giant eyes.

My gut said that's not right. Used my phone camera to zoom in. The favicon is the owner with the white shirt being what I saw as eyes. #accessibilitymatters

“Citizen portal”
I have a Google saved search on certain work related keywords that populate RSS feeds I then read in Inoreader. One called "Student finance chief outlines Georgia Match, Promise Scholarship and HOPE administration" caught my eye because I work on some Georgia Match stuff. This article reads like a beat reporter attended the session and wrote a summary. My problem is I can't seem to find corroborating information. Nothing on the House Education Committee web site. They seem to post their stuff after the legislative session. I looked in Google searches, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and need to recall some of the lesser state and Atlanta papers to see if I can find anything about that committee meeting and what was discussed.
