Mint and tuxedo are super user-friendly. I use both distros for my students, and they never believe that it is linux 🤣
You have analized your data with many steps. Do you want to make the analysis reproducible for others and your future-you? If you are in the LMU Munich, you can come to our workshop on *May 6th*. We will show you how to create workflows in R. Www.pretix.osc.lmu.de/lmu-osim/hig... 🧪

Iron is essential for growth of Tetrahymena in axenic media (prey-free)🧪. Last time we made our stock solution was three years ago. How do we prepare it and store it? The details are now published in @protocolsio.bsky.social under www.protocols.io/view/fecl3-s... and just in time for a new lot 🥼🫡
FeCl3 solution for NEFF Media
For axenic growth of Tetrahymena thermophila in the lab, NEFF media requires a final concentration of 33 µM (see Tetrahymena Stock Center (RRID:SCR_008362)). To guarantee that...

Yap. You got it. Just make it in a way that his clothes change while going through the pipe. Piping requires some change or process to take place 😉.
Hi Erik, I would like to be added to the microbiologist and/or bioinformatics and/or toxinologist feed. Here is my ORCID: orcid.org/0000-0001-85... and my YouTube channel: youtube.com/@exotoxinsla... thank you for your time. Have a great day!!! 😊

One after another. Like an assembly line. The product of one station will be passed to the next one. Imagine each working station is a function or command of the computer. The term for "at the same time" is parallel processing or parallel programming.
You just need to consider: typing is annoying, so many commands are just abbreviations of the full words: cat for concatenate and pipe for creting a pipeline. I have done the transition recently, so if you want I can help you 😉
Buffer is ready. Hmm. can I sterilize it in the autoclave? When the answer is no, the next best option is to do a sterile filtration. It's not a big deal, but it's easy to do it wrong. Here is our protocol! 🧪 Sterile filtration of liquid solutions  www.protocols.io/view/sterile...
Sterile filtration of liquid solutions
Some liquids are not suitable for autoclaving but need to be sterile for use. Here we describe the process of filtering any solution to achieve sterility (at least removal of or...

Nothing more annoying than preparing buffers, but extremely necessary if we want to mate ciliates. Here is our protocol for the 1 M Tris-HCl pH 7.5 for Tetrahymena mating (Stock solution) www.protocols.io/view/1-m-tri.... We hope it will be helpful for the community! 🧪 🤲🏻🥼
1 M Tris-HCl pH 7.5 for Tetrahymena mating (Stock solution)
In this protocol we specify the steps needed to create a 250 ml stock solution of 1M Tris-HCl solution used for the preparation of Tetrahymena thermophila cells for mating. The...

Oh no please! Then we will never get an update on the manuals. ThermoFischer has not updated a lot of the manuals for MolecularProbes or Gibco kits... let alone the Invitrogen cloning products. Terrible for #OpenScience 😟😞😕
I love to help to solve challenges that come up in the lab, and yesterday I was able to link our protocol for veggie NEFF media in a personal communication (www.protocols.io/view/veggie-...) while discussing differences in flow cytometry results. Life is easier with @protocolsio.bsky.social 🤪🧪
Veggie NEFF media for Tetrahymena thermophila
The ciliate Tetrahymena thermophila has been a research organism used by a great community of scientists including biologist, geneticists and toxicologists. T. thermophila is a...

i'm no stephen hawking but i think what happens is that they cancel each other out
And it is free! No fee. You just need to cover your own food and lodging.
We still have places in our Machine Learning School. Anyone in natural sciences or medical background can take part. You just need to be in Munich between the 9th and 12th of December and have the full day available! You will learn the basic of python and will apply it to create your own ML model 🧪
🥺 it is under a paywall 😫
Two more protocols out in @protocolsio.bsky.social. Little by little we can build upon each one to get everything ready for the big ones. This time we have a buffer solution for Quality Control of the AlamarBlue stain, and a classic: Gram staining www.protocols.io/view/gram-st....
Gram staining
This protocol is performed as described by the ASM (American Society of Microbiologists) in their document Gram Staining Protocol, 1981. Our aim is to include all instructions t...

Question to the community 🧪: in the last 4 years, I have tutored PhD students from other labs and institutions. Too many have had a lot of problems because of bad PIs, and I do mean really bad scientist and people. Some are under investigation. How can I warn future students about them?
