In the alt-text I wrote some glimpses of who I am (today, a year ago), siempre tomando en cuenta que the ways in which one writes about oneself cambian de un momento a otro.

Estos días he estado pensando en ese #ElPressentiment que tantas veces he posteado, el de "no le deseo una identidad a nadie," y pensaba ¿qué es para mi la identidad, si no una amalgama de muchas identidades?

Por ejemplo, si me tuviese que autodefinir en este momento, podría decir que soy una persona no- binaria, blanca, latina (para algunos, sudaca); soy arquitecta pero más editora; hace unos meses me definía como bisexual y ahora reniego un poco de ese 'bi' que se me hace como una vuelta a lo binario, es decir solo soy una persona que ama a personas. Soy madre y muchas veces también soy padre; soy una persona que detesta las guerras, las banderas, el hambre y un poquito al ser humano; pero amo las nubes, los libros, la música; y un poquito al ser humano. Soy el producto de todas mis contradicciones; soy un ser que detesta lo inmutable y abraza la incerteza. Soy una persona que se define para entenderse, contarse y volver a indefinirse.

Soy todas mis identidades, las de ayer, hoy y mañana. Por eso, al igual que el pressentiment, no le deseo una identidad a nadie; les deseo muchas, todas las que sean necesarias para conocerse y crecer y les deseo la capacidad de cambiar y fluir constantemente. Eso es un poco la vida, supongo.

We had Angela Davis speak at my university a couple of years back. One of the many insightful things she said - protest in the way that aligns with your passion. If that’s poetry do poetry or music etc. Because then you will be able to sustain it. If naked bike rides are your passion, 100% do that.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

Sadly (as the article acknowledges), our schools + universities provide virtually no space for this kind of exploration. Learning is utilitarian, and its "use" is entrepreneurial training + salary maximization. Even faculty time is consumed by admin once shared w/ larger staff + faculty colleagues.

My mom taught special ed for 40yrs. Her students were what was then called “severely + profoundly mentally + physically disabled.” All required Individualized Educational Pgms, which mom was *constantly* updating at the kitchen table. Under this admin, none wld get the attent’n + care she provided 💔
