Black and white shot of two high, old stone walls meeting at right angles on the left. In the back wall there is a dark, narrow door. Directly to the right of it is a wooden bench and to the right of that is a very nice tree. The ground on the right and back are large pavement blocks, front middle and left just leaves on earth.

A lot going on this #ThickTrunkTuesday not least the hand like bough reaching across from one trunk to the other ... There are many tanglewood tales whispered among these trees near the Vindolanda Roman site #Northumberland

Not the 'Tanglewood Tales' about Greek myth, but ancient stories from the earth in this place. A tree with a double trunk and many twisted boughs leans on a hillside near a broken fence. There is a an irregular, arch shaped hollow at the bottom of the trunk.The autumn sunlight is soft but this can be a windswept site

Our photograph shows a large fallen tree trunk lying on a grassy field in Bushy Park which is one of the Royal Parks outside of London in the United Kingdom.

The trunk is old and weathered, its bark mostly stripped away to reveal smooth, pale wood beneath. There are hollow sections and knots in its surface, suggesting decay and the passage of time.

The surrounding landscape is open and natural, with lush green grass in the foreground and tall trees in full leaf behind it. The trees form a loose line across the background, their leaves tinted with early autumn hues.

The sky above is overcast with a soft bluish-grey tone, giving the scene a calm, cool, slightly melancholic feeling, as it was taken nearing dusk in this quiet woodland clearing within the park.

Our picture is in full colour and has a thin white border frame to finish off this shot.
