This was a really fun slasher surprise. Josh Ruben is a super funny guy and he brings a joyful sensibility to directing these gory as hell horror movies. Very eager to see what batshit thing he does next.
Bunnicula was one of my early childhood favorites. I loved the hell out of this series.

Finished reading SPREAD ME by @sarahgailey.bsky.social yesterday and 1) fucking cool as hell 10/10 on the horny monster scale 2) I want to give Gailey a high five for how effectively they pushed all those buttons. An unrelenting skin crawling reading experience. 😍

I woke this morning with a strange compulsion to listen to Radiohead. Radiohead is fine but not really my cup of tea normally. I have never gone out of my way to listen to them. But this morning I needed to listen to Fake Plastic Trees. Is this… am I sick? Do I have the Bends?
If you’re going to be at Orycon this weekend I will also be there doing panels and a reading, I think, and other stuff. Apparently. Anyway. If you see me and use the secret code “Hi Erik” I will respond.
It’s fantastic. The iconic imagery, color design, and title treatment sells the vibes perfectly. Made it easy to spot in Powells too. May we all be so lucky with our book releases. 🤘
Adding another round of accolades to @keithrosson.bsky.social ‘s newest, COFFIN MOON. It’s a great read about dirt bag vampires and revenge in mid 70s Portland. I strongly recommend it. I also recommend whatever dark occult bargain Keith made to get another fucking awesome cover.
Finished reading this yesterday and I can confirm that it is bloody and mean just like candy. … wait

Great book. I have native Portlander anachronism grumbles but the writing is excellent and it has my favorite kind of vampires - dirty bar room bastards that feel like Tom Waits kissing Near Dark.
JUST A REMINDER THAT VAMPIRE NOVELS ARE AS GOOD AS CANDY WHEN IT COMES TO TRICK OR TREATERS THEY LOVE THAT STUFF!

COFFIN MOON available now, everywhere. Thanks!
I will be a panelist at Orycon this weekend! Apparently? …Allegedly? I might also be doing a reading if “Eric Grove” hasn’t stolen my slot.

I understand this is very niche 90s weirdo content and return you now to whatever miserable shit is happening that isn’t one of my favorite rock bands making new music. With apologies for my simplistic enthusiasm. It is early still in Portland, the most war torn of autumnal wonderlands.
Bob Mould is a living rock n roll legend. Husker Dü is obviously seminal and his solo work is incredible but there was something special in Sugar. Copper Blue is one of my favorite albums and an underrated 90s classic. So a Sugar reunion? HELL YES. The new single is solid. They have my attention.
What’s your most controversial opinion about BROOKS?

I’ll go first. I don’t like how they burble. Just a bunch of wannabe creeks with stream envy.

Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves. One for practice and the other one is the "main" grave.

No one ever came close to capturing a blockbuster's aura of magic and adventure the way Struzan did. An icon unto himself. RIP.

On the one hand you’ve got Bridgerton vibes, complete with a wealthy & handsome Labrador-esque Good Boi PoC hero for whom the protagonist is unwillingly falling; otoh she’s facing the magical equivalent of cliterodectomy or footbinding the moment she marries, & she’s urgently trying to forge a
There's a page for the anthology I edited up at Barnes & Noble and the B&N URL has MY name in it. It's wild. I worked so hard on it and it's taken months to get it through the printing process but there it is now. It's real. 🥹 (I'll be posting a preorder link after I coordinate with the publisher!)
Also they have these awesome little seating nooks where I can imagine writing for hours. Fuck yeah LIBRARIES!
My new library branch is wonderful. There are so many good books in there. 😍
