I need to come up with a lot of opinions on things I was careful to never let myself believe would/could ever happen. So far this is my debut novelist experience. When there’s little blossoms of hope and excitement I guess I am not supposed to stomp on all of them now? Wild.

One of my best friends when I was a kid had an older brother diagnosed with AIDS. He was a comic and fantasy book nerd with strong opinions. He was also gay in a small town and died from complications of the disease as a pariah. I was still a teenager. This isn’t ancient history. Remember them all.
