I think the thing about Mamdani that really sends a certain crowd into conniptions is that he embodies the America they are afraid of - one where you can proudly celebrate your heritage, joyfully relate with the other ones around you, and still be 100% American.

There's no honor in being a Content Merchant. Like the disgraceful sophists of old, charging a fee for knowledge that ought to be free. Be a Content Donor instead, like the great Socrates
A card game company winning a land settlement against the worlds wealthiest dushbag is pretty awesome. 👏 More of this please.
This made my morning lol. Get him.

“A year after suing SpaceX for “invading” a plot of land on the US/Mexico border, Cards Against Humanity says it has obtained a settlement and will provide supporters with a new pack of cards about Elon Musk.”

Confederates were let totally off the hook, the architects of Vietnam and Iraq suffered no consequences, Wall Street bankers got richer, and the guy who did Jan. 6 got re-elected.

The United States is a cautionary tale for what happens when a society gives total impunity to the rich and powerful.

It blows my mind he was just allowed to bulldoze the White House like that! Or pave over the Rose Garden, for that matter.

I wonder if that new ballroom will be big enough to hold a Nuremberg trial.
“Thank you for not stealing my work and likeness” is a bit too kind in my opinion.
Bryan Cranston thanks OpenAI for updating Sora 2 to prevent AI from recreating his face and voice in videos

"I was deeply concerned not just for myself, but for all performers whose work and identity can be misused in this way"
To me, peace is like Northern Ireland giving up violence and joining the political mainstream. Until Hamas does that, it’s only words. Hoping for the best but I’m skeptical warring neighbors will ever find common ground without substantial internal reform and a recognition of statehood/independence.
Someone on NPR today compared the recent peace treaty in the Middle East under Trump to Bush II declaring mission accomplished 6 months into the Iraq War that would go on to last a decade. Interesting take. I had forgotten about that. I guess we’ll see if it’s different this time.

We've somehow settled into an equilibrium wherein *all* the social media sites suck & are unbearable.
It’s totally not normal

If I were ever elected president, the first thing I’d do is take a sledgehammer to that ballroom.
Same. And turn it into a garden.

Too many people are VERY comfortable putting people in positions of power who hold bigoted views. Idk if it's because you also hold bigoted views or if you're just comfortable that those views won't affect YOU, but it's wild to see "no bigots" reduced to "purity test." Either way, no.

An impatient driver behind me at an intersection a few minutes ago beeped at me—several times—and gestured angrily. She couldn't see that I was waiting for a pedestrian. No moral here; I guess she assumed I was distracted. It's just one of those cortisol spikes we all have to deal with sometimes.
We’re selling the company, stock goes up +10%, also we’re raising prices again. Magic 🪄

It was that pivot to CD’s and physical media that crushed them. If they had just stuck to books and waited for the Vinyl resurgence they would have survived alongside Barnes n Noble, which is doing quite well despite digital everything.
