Criticism of the team & Slot after losing four games on the bounce is not only natural & expected, but normal. There are plenty of reasons to be critical about. They get the praise when we win, or shouldn’t we praise them, either?

Ha! Well, that’s going back a fair distance. Honestly though, if you’re asking new players to learn new roles as they play, such as Kerkez, or you’re asking Bradley to play like Trent or Hakimi, it’s no surprise if it’s a painful transition.

It was 4-3-3 today with the same midfield as last season, same attack bar Isak, & the narrow fullbacks. It’s reverting back to the template from last season, IMO.

The one thing that worries me & it kind of goes back to your original point, is that has Slot shit the bed & blinked first on Wirtz simply because of results? Did he change it because we lost a couple of games? Because Carragher questioned him? That idea is a big worry, IMO.

Yep. Exactly that. Too many changes, & a lot of complications. It might eventually work out, but over the last two games, we’ve dropped a star buy & reverted to last season in midfield. I’m not sure wtf that’s about, tbh. It will hardly make it easier in the long term.

We went back to basics today. Aside from the new striker, it was the same as last season in attack. Aside from Kerkez & Marmadashvili, the same at the back of you sub in Bradley for Trent.

Thing is though, we’ve tried two different things in the last two games without Wirtz in midfield, & I wouldn’t say it improved anything 😂 Just fucking play the lad, & tweak around him. It’s the obvious move.

It might work as Slot envisages, in time. He might be able to play the role he’s being asked to do. He’s young, & from what I’ve read on him, he’s a clever lad. But, I still don’t know if it can truly work without having the midfield PSG do. It’s a pure Barca type midfield.

Klopp’s Liverpool though, with Slot’s tweaks. Now we have new fullbacks, new strikers, & a 10 we don’t seem to know what to do with 😕

There’s also the fact that Wirtz is either a 10, or a LW for the half spaces, but Slot seems to want to play a 1-2 midfield again, now. I thought the plan was wide fullbacks & a 2-1 midfield.

I think it’s a fullback issue as far as structure is concerned. I honestly can’t get my head around why we bought Kerkez & have Bradley & Frimpong if we wanted sitting fullbacks who only occasionally overlap.

I will say that I think Slot has been bamboozled into thinking that we can somehow have fullbacks like Mendes & Hakimi, without us having Mendes & Hakimi. Nor do we have the controlled midfield that PSG have to help make it all work. Nor the wide players or F9, for that matter.

We aren’t PSG.

They aren’t headless chickens. They’re being asked to change the way they are used to playing, though. Our fullbacks are expected to play like Hakimi & Mendes, without the PSG midfield to help them.
