Me, doing my silly little things, uncaring of if I'm cringe or not
A panel from the manga Delicious in Dungeon, depicting Izutsumi, a black haired woman with cat ears and a black tail, walking along in a large winter coat. She looks pleased and has a musical note by her mouth to indicate she is humming to herself.

I mean, true but people tell me he's a streamer, but I can't imagine listening to him for 90 seconds, much less hours at a time, so I assume he guards a bridge over a stream and people got confused.

Me, in conversation: Asmongold does songs? Is that what he did to become famous? I'm not gonna lie, I was under the impression he was some variety of bridge troll.

One of my favorite revelations in a horror movie was realizing the villain protagonists of Tragedy Girls have no sympathetic backstory or secret motivation, they simply do not view anyone other than each other as human and have no qualms about murdering people for their own amusement. And it owned!
ghaspey.bsky.social
I'll say it: I think its rly annoying and frankly amateurish that writers are constantly told their villains must be understandable or have sympathetic motivation to be interesting or realistic when all our big villains irl are in fact rich, stupid, selfish, trickster dillweeds and always have been

"Introduce yourself with one food you refuse to eat, one film you'll never watch again and one song you can't stand"

Food: I once tried jarred gefilte fish. Inedible. And I like gefilte fish!

Film: Whichever one of the August Undergrounds I saw.

Song: Fuckin Perfect by P!nk. I will not elaborate.

“Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand”

Food: canned tuna fish

Film: Grease. I was horrified by its sexism from my first viewing at a sleepover and I remain correct

Song: Brown Eyed Girl. The worst

“Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand”

Food: cucumber, however if you pickle it I'll eat em all day

Film: Jacob's Ladder, avoided it for years then was tricked into seeing it

Song: the whole of the fucking moon

Genuinely, what do people think the point of voting democrat is if the democrats act just like republicans?

It might be recency bias and all that, but I really feel like Forever is a Feeling by Lucy Dacus is one of her best albums and a lot of my favorite songs on it are about Julien Baker (Most Wanted Man, Best Guess and Ankles in particular)
jmritchey.bsky.social
It's a given in the music industry that "I've fallen in love!" albums are usually regrettable, and "I've gotten a divorce!" ones often have some of the artist's best work. So question for the group, what are the best "I've fallen in love!" albums?

I feel like we've gotten pretty numb to Trump and co's insane shit, so it's good to remember that these words are coming out of the mouth of like, the head of HHS and not a bizarre conspiracy blog written with no paragraph breaks in the dark corners of the internet.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

It's increasingly clear to me that a lot of Democrats were supporting queer rights only on sufferance and cannot WAIT to throw us under the bus, even if it doesn't actually benefit them.

I suppose the play would be find a Swiftie to talk to about it and transcribe the conversation, but I dunno if I have a strong enough thesis to bother trying to do that.

I guess the first step would be listen to Life of a Showgirl, which I still have not done.
elessar42.bsky.social
I'm not being sarcastic about that, by the by. I try not to be overtly dismissive of stuff I don't really vibe with, and I don't really Get Taylor Swift, but on the other hand I love Gorillaz (especially the Plastic Beach era) so I genuinely don't feel like I would do her and her fanbase justice.
elessar42.bsky.social
The fact that Life of a Showgirl was recorded between shows on tour makes me want to find a thematic throughline to compare it to The Fall, the Gorrillaz album Damon Albarn made while on his iPad while on tour, but I feel like I'm not clued enough to Taylor Swift and I'll come off as dismissive.

Newsom could have done nothing. It was, as you say, a minor show of support for trans people. It passed the state house and the state senate. He chose to say no, at a time when trans people are being actively targeted by the federal government. That's telling.
elessar42.bsky.social
I think vetoing a symbolic show of support for trans people is part of the same pipeline that got the Texas AG there. And I think you are asking trans people to make the same devils bargain they made in the UK over and over until their equivalent of the democrats just as bad on trans issues.
elessar42.bsky.social
Hey man, I get where you think you're coming from, but is there any way we can ask for more from the politicians who are supposedly on our side than "Not moving as fast down the genocide pipeline as Trump?" Like is that too much to ask?

I can't even imagine getting mad at that, it's just self evidently true, when do they think the first act took place?
