In January, I wished for a creative 2025 ✨ A quick mid-year review made me realise I need to push myself outside my comfort zone more 😅
Do you manage to work on your #dataviz goals?

My wishes for a creative new year:
1. More processing/p5.js data viz
2. More data viz with physical objects
3. More data viz consistent with the subject matter (use of icons, images, textures...)
4. Wander further away from data viz specific tools and experiment more

Mid-year review:
One creative wish out of four implemented (wish number 3). For an area plot and a treemap plot I used images to reflect the causes of deforestation.

My book DARK LABORATORY celebrates Kalinago survivance and the African agrarian x aquatic traditions people like my ancestors, who were enslaved, brought to the region.

He was imprisoned only because he refused to leave his home in northern Gaza. He never carried a weapon, never joined a fight; he simply wanted to stay in his own house, in peace.

But he doesn’t know yet…
He doesn’t know that his home has been reduced to ashes, that his brother, sister, and her children were all killed. He will walk out of prison searching for them—and find no one. He will return to nothing. No roof, no walls, not even a corner to shelter his grief.

That’s why I decided to raise just $1,000 for him—a small amount that might buy him a tent, a blanket, a piece of dignity after everything he’s lost.
Please, help me give him a tiny beginning in a world that took everything from him.
Because nothing is more painful than stepping into freedom, only to find that freedom has no place left to go.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.
