Mostly neon. Sometimes old computers. Occasionally photography, fountain pens, and nixie tubes. Brooklyn but slowly migrating to Palm Springs/Joshua Tree.

A close up of the neon paper airplanes I made. Time to make them a little smaller 😂
I’m not great at the side joins but let’s see if this baby pumps.

Happy Day of Hearts! Here is a fun video that I made while bending the glass for a neon heart. Watch until the end to see the finished piece.

I removed the broken pieces from a neon beer sign and replaced with a couple of hearts.

Love this neon sign of the original Post Bar in #Detroit.

The bar first opened in 1978 near Cobo Hall, but moved to its new location on Broadway in 2024.

Now the original sign is inside the bar (with a smaller version outside).

File under TMI.

Here's a great picture of the Rialto theater marquee on Broadway in DTLA. No longer a theater, but an Urban Outfitters store (or was at the time of this photo, 2016).

Not going into the photoset that'll be a premium for KS backers of the new Hazeland book. Bummer.

Don't besmirch the good name of neon. That is clearly a Chinese LED channel light sign reminiscent of neon.

Unless you like spicy water, this seems like a bad idea.

Just sayin’
Neon lit bath tubs in a Busby Berkeley-directed musical sequence from Dames (1934).

Neon shows up in several of Berkeley's elaborately staged numbers from the '30s and '40s, at times with safety as an afterthought!

A sign that I made for the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia several years back. It was for a David Bowie themed art show. Bromo blue glass gives the nicest color!

Elephant Car Wash sign, a Seattle landmark designed by Beatrice Haverfield and fabricated by Campbell Neon in 1956.

Bea was the creative force behind some of Seattle's most iconic signs, including Ivar's and Dick's Drive-In.

Found it by chance on the last day of my visit. Glad I did!

As I think of Minneapolis, this architecture geek is also thinking about the many cool buildings found throughout the city, including one of my favorites: Murray's, "Home of the Silver Butter Knife Steak,” open since 1946.
