Love this neon sign of the original Post Bar in #Detroit.

The bar first opened in 1978 near Cobo Hall, but moved to its new location on Broadway in 2024.

Now the original sign is inside the bar (with a smaller version outside).

File under TMI.

Sad to hear of Bud Cort’s death.

He and Ruth Gordon are one of my favorite film couples as Harold & Maude, which has much more depth than it often gets credit for.

Rewatch: DELIVERANCE (1972), an unsettling film of four city men on a horrific canoeing trip in rural Georgia.

It explores survival amidst brutal yet beautiful terrain while tapping into Appalachian stereotypes, especially for a rape scene that still shocks.

Was excited to see SUNSET BOULEVARD on the big screen after noticing the title on a marquee.

Turns out it’s Sunset Blvd, an 80s tribute band, haha.

What’s not to love when Jack the Ripper wanders London’s fog-shrouded, cobblestone streets at night?

The atmosphere is a main character here. Laird Cregar is increasingly menacing toward the end as the Ripper, while Merle Oberon..

First watch: 12 MONKEYS (1995).
While I liked the dystopian atmosphere, I never really felt engaged in this film and didn’t care about the characters.

I thought the premise of traveling from 2035 back to 1990 (uh, 1996) to gather information about a virus that …

First watch: THE WHOLE TOWN’S TALKING (1935), a John Ford-directed film starring Edward G. Robinson as an unassuming office clerk who looks identical to a murderous prison escapee.

Chaos ensues in this clever, comedic crime flick, propelled by a taut script.

Rewatch: DETOUR (1945), an absorbing B-#noir that succeeds far beyond its meager budget.

What is it about opening diner scenes (also see THE KILLERS, 1946) that propel #FilmNoir to intense storylines—here with Tom Neal’s character stuck between tragic fate and bad decisions.

Rewatch: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MISS JANE PITTMAN (1974).

Cicely Tyson’s character is fictional, but her story from slavery to defiant drinking from a whites-only water fountain in the Civil Rights Movement is reflective of a despicable era in US history.
