I posit that if you can’t do a the job of moderation without acting like a typical cop without “going crazy”, then you shouldn’t be doing the job.
I moderate a large Facebook group for my city. I am quick to ban, slow to reverse myself, unlikely to listen. It's the ONLY way to do it without going crazy.
I think we lost something when way fewer people online as a proportion of the whole started to have direct personal experience of moderating a forum or online community - though at least Reddit still exists
