One very end, depicted in pic,is my favorite.Heston, production staff had to fight the censors, tooth and nail,to keep that line in.Thank goodness they succeeded -like the scene itself, those lines are iconic. Also - "take your stinking paws.."😀And Zaius' -"as you occupy its lowest rung","his destiny"...

Yep. Trump isn't the first "bone spurs" POTUS

As luck would have it, TCM is devoting its daytime schedule on Thursday,October 16th to films about - you guessed it - the French Revolution😀Incl some very good ones - Scarlet Pimpernel,Marie Antoinette,Danton,Voltaire and, perhaps best of all,the classic 1935 version of "A Tale of Two Cities" 👍😊

Someday, perhaps in the not too distant future,Trump will look out his window. And see a crowd like this. Coming for him....

Apart from his racism, his hypocrisy really galls me.He had the temerity to criticize young men for protesting Vietnam War.This from a chicken hawk who did everything he could to avoid fighting Hitler.Bigger stars-and better actors-like Jimmy Stewart,Clark Gable saw combat.Wayne was a phony #cinemon

If one wants to see someone objectionable, look no further than "da Duke". John Wayne was an out and out racist. And,unlike Heston, this super patriot was too cowardly to fight Hitler. Getting one deferment after another, until the war was over. A red white and blue hypocrite...Anyway,I digress #cinemon

Yes,he did. Many don't like his politics, especially during the last 10 years of his life. But his civil rights activism shouldn't be ignored, imo. The man was a fine actor with enormous charisma. His George Taylor in orig "Planet of the Apes" is one of great characters in all science fiction #cinemon

If AI decides NOT to confirm your identity,is your very existence even recognized?Insane -maybe suicidal- to give artificial intelligence this kind of power over humans. If the godd**ned things ever do "wake up",humans will be totally screwed. Will give term "woke" a dark and terrible meaning #cinemon

Apart from classic "Planet of the Apes"(remake was pretty awful),my favorite Heston scifi film is "Soylent Green". Dark, dystopian film depicting a VERY grim future (TOS,this ain't) for humanity. Edward G. Robinson's last film-he's wonderful in it😊."Soylent Green is...". Nope,I won't say it😀 #cinemon

Lol,great minds... Just posted about that😊 #cinemon

The Vincent Price version,"The Last Man on Earth",made in 1964(so it was the first filmed version. At least I think it was...),was pretty good, too. Is an amazing story so it's hard for a movie to completely screw it up #cinemon

New Adventures of Beans Baxter? Ok,that one has me completely stumped. Have never heard of it before you posted this 🙂 #cinemon

Smith's version of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend" was pretty good. But I think I like the Charlton Heston version,"The Omega Man",even better🙂 #cinemon

We're seeing a generation "evolve",if that's the correct name for it,that can't even write its own name.Or even write at all,for that matter. If this is "progress",it's a strange one.If one needs AI to confirm one's very identity, might this not be a step towards complete dependence on AI?... #cinemon

Imo,nothing comes close to this masterpiece's depiction of something truly alien, its evolutionary arc for humanity as it,guided by a Great Power, journeys from its simian past to its stunning and godlike future. As for its disturbing portrait of AI,Kubrick's vision is more relevant than ever #cinemon

@soxonthebrain.bsky.social @sonofkaras.bsky.social Kubrick's "2001-A Space Odyssey" has rightly been hailed as his masterpiece for ~60 yrs.A friend texted me after he saw it for the first time- "These FX are remastered, right? This film didn't look like this in 1968,surely." Yes,it did😊👍 #cinemon

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

I imagine many Germans felt similarly under siege after Hitler was appointed Chancellor in 1933. History shows that they had very good reason to be afraid. And so do Americans in 2025. The barbarians are at the gates. Are Americans going to let them in? Frankly, the answer is currently an open question
edoreilly.bsky.social
That's the theory.Dictatorships forming from previous democracies usually eliminate any constitutions standing in the way of their total and complete control. After becoming Chancellor, one of Hitler's very first acts was abolishing Weimar Constitution. If he's allowed,Trump will do the very same thing
