If you’re going to speak on book v. movie, you can’t repeatedly say, “Well, I didn’t read the book but…” Read the book! Then speak! Sincerely, English professor yelling at podcasts on the way to work.

This is a big deal. Still lots of work to do, but it matters that the court has recognized that HB900 is utterly, finally, indisputably unconstitutional. Now we just need to get Texans and lawmakers to stop listening to the people who pushed this dumb law.
What an utter waste of taxpayer dollars, spent defending a law that was blatantly and obviously unconstitutional out of the gate.

Texas parents want politicians to stop wasting our money passing unconstitutional laws!!!

Federal judge says Texas law requiring book ratings is unconstitutional

If I get one more unsolicited come-on from a “helpful” book promoter offering sycophantic compliments to expand my book’s reach, I swear I will summon the ghost of Harlan Ellison upon each and every one of them, starting with whoever put me on someone’s list of scams.
I just finished this book and found it quite interesting. It gave me a sharp perspective on familiar movies, and only once or twice did I feel she was stretching the analogy a bit thin. Very accessible for the layman; recommend watching the movies before reading the chapters as spoilers abound.
Eleanor Johnson's new book, Scream With Me, examines how the rise of feminism was reflected in horror movies. “Even from the most hardcore, pro-life standpoint, you cannot root for Rosemary to keep that pregnancy,” she told Jezebel.

I didn't read until I was 17 and that was because Richard Wright wrote Black Boy. A teacher gave it to me... and I realized It's not that I hate reading, it's that I hate being bored. — @jasonreynolds83.bsky.social #AFTBookClub

Yay! St. Louis Pro is the outstanding small chapter for the five-state Midwestern Region 7. I’m delighted and so proud of the hard work my board has done. Warning: I’m coming back with a pile of ideas! (Are you an STL journalist? You should totally join us at stlspj.org.)

Polycystic ovary syndrome affects about 1 out of every 10 women of reproductive age worldwide.

Yet it is often underfunded and under the radar, making it common for women to suffer major discomfort before learning they have the condition.

Billionaires are always inserting themselves into situations when it is unneeded or unwanted but when their influence could be useful, they aren’t around. Anyway. Mark Cuban is an IU alum. He could fund that student newspaper in perpetuity with pocket change. Or withhold institutional donations.
