Repostober Catch-Up, Day 11 - Yellow Submarine Escape

Another obsession of mine - small scenes in resin, no doubt inspired by @leslielevings.bsky.social's little underwater monster scenes. I still have a giant box of shells, too....

A seashell painted dark blue and filled with clear resin. Inside the resin, a small yellow submarine moves upward to escape giant pink tentacles. Green coral shoots and shells are embedded on top of the resin, giving the scene layers to imply depth.

If you're able, you should absolutely go see this exhibit. Watterson's works in person are beautiful. I was tearing up through the whole thing.

Repostober, Day 10 - Mica Leaf Artwork

I spent a few years obsessed with this technique, pressing leaves into thinly rolled clay and coloring them with mica powder. Spring was "Sparkle Season," and any work caught in the crossfire shone, too.

Repostober Catch-up, Day 9 - Dragon Mountain

Here's another I'd like to revisit with my current skill set to see if I can do a better job conveying the scale of the dragon; I'd like him to look more mountainous, with just a bit of his back above the treeline.

More music boxes - I was a collector as a kid, and obsessed with making them as an adult. Adding movement is difficult - this one, a bottom-wind, is one of the simpler methods for rotation.
